Just wanted to chime on on a standout player not only for Jacksonville, but for college football as a whole. He was an excellent player on the field, and a class act off of it, quite possibly one of JU's best players in our history. I have no doubt he will be drafted well and have a fine career in the NFL, he deserves it.

Who was the receiver from JU who made it to the NFL? Played for 2-3 teams, I think.

I couldn't help but remember back to the situation early in Rudell's career where he was temporarily suspended by the university after a bogus arrest and that I wrote a column chastising JU for its poor handling of things. Of course the charges were dropped, he was reinstated after missing a game and Small went on to an outstanding career.

To be clear about that incident, drugs were planted in his dorm room by a jealous teammate.

I'll have to track it down. It's not easy to find stuff from the archives with the yokels who run TSN.

OHHH I remember that. Its the same kid, huh?

Not my column. It was a news story by Byron Saucer of the Ocala Star-Banner. Still looking for it. Haven't tracked it down yet.
