I know the playoffs for the 2010 season haven't started yet, but who are the players to watch for the 2011 FCS season?

Two returning WIU RB's:
Caulton Ray, sophomore this year: 208 rushes, 912 rush yds, 8 TDs
Bryce Flowers, freshmen this year: 131 rushes, 731 rush yds, 17 rec, 293 rec yds, 9 total TDs

Have a feeling WIU will be an effective running team next year?

FR - Dillon Romain RB - Albany

Some of the Montana fans might remember him. He was offered by Montana and for some reason decided to turn it down to come to Albany. He really worked into the sysetm at the end of this season rattling off 365 yards rushing and 510 all purpuse yards in the last 3 games to bring his freshman year totals to the following:

547 rushing yards with 6 TDs and 376 kickoff return yards.

He should also be the NEC Rookie of the Year after being the Rookie of the Week 4 times and for the last 3 weeks of the season consecutively.

From Delaware -

Freshman (this year) RB Andrew Pierce - He's already been a threat to opponents this year, and should only get better with time. He could be playing on Sundays in four years.

Freshman (redshirt) (this year) QB Trevor Sasek - He showed a lot of promise this year during the weeks where Devlin was hurt. With some time and confidence under his belt he could be the next Andy Hall.

Ronnie Fouch, QB at Indiana State. As a transfer Jr. he threw for 2252 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Shakir Bell, RB at Indiana State. As a freshman backup he ran for 669 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nice yardage for a young kid that ran behind a 1,000 yard back.

Eastern Kentucky---- sophomore wide receiver Orlandus Harris (56 catches, 940 yards, 7 TD's) & JR JeremyCaldwell, who battled injuries much of the season, still managed to pick off three passes, including returning one 80 yards for a touchdown against FBS foe Louisville. On the year Caldwell had an interception return, kickoff return and punt return for a score.

Quick's gotta be like 30 by now... :)

For JMU look for the guy that will make our offense better...oh yea, that could be ANYBODY OFF THE STREET!!

Seriously, now that the O-line has some experience under its belt, I hope that Justin Thorpe will return to the form he showed at the end of last year and be a real playmaker. Also, Dae'quan Scott was our big playmaker the last two games at Wildcat QB, but he's gonna need to learn how to throw the ball if he wants to show up at Quarterback. He'll probably play the Wildcat, WR, and Punt Returner roles.

On defense, LB Stephon Robertson is the returning CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year and should be good. The defense as a whole is only losing one starter, so they will hopefully be as good or better than they were this year.

SBU's Running Back trio should be phenomenal
Edwin Gowins - Sr.
Brock Jackolski - Sr.
Miguel Maysonet - Jr,

And QB Michael Coulter is coming back. He ended the season quite well.

Only played briefly in Mich (thankfully since he blocked one of the FG attempts) and L-R game in '07, injured in L-R game and Redshirted. Though does seem he's been around longer than that.

No player in any sport will beat that thought against Vasques on Maryland's basketball team, think he was there for 12 years.

TTU's WR Tim Benford (senior-to-be in '11). 2nd straight year as 1st team All-OVC. Jacksonville St.'s coach said he was the OVC's best WR and an EIU coach said he's the best WR the OVC has ever had (I think that's how he put it). In any case, they guy is good!

There are going to be quite a few returners to watch out for at UNI, but the big ones will be:

Tirrell Rennie QB 1482 yds 8 TDs passing and 1205 yds 14 tds rushing
Carlos Anderson RB 880 yds 2 TDs rushing and 2 KO return TDs
Jared Herring WR 534 yds 5 TDs receiving, and arguably the fastest player in the MVC 100 meter champion as a freshman

Well, if we get all our runningbacks healed up, we have a four-headed RB named Javaris-Marcus-Champlain-Andre Murray-Wiltz-Babin-Anderson.

Andre Anderson, who made the all-SLC first team, was actually our 4th team runningback entering into the spring this past season. I've never seen a season where McNeese has had this many runningbacks get hurt. We had another freshman RB, Renaldo Young, who was playing behind Andre, break a leg returning punts against LSU. So at one time, we had four runningbacks on the shelf. Andre ended up being the last man (Rb) standing with a freshman we were trying to keep a redshirt on backing him up. We did use one of our backup Qb's as a Rb when we were running out the clock agains Texas St. and managed to not break the redshirt.

Look out for Brad Sorensen from Southern Utah. I believe he will be the best QB in the Big Sky next year. He's 6'5 225lbs and will be a jr. next season. SUU was #5 in passing offense and he was #7 in passing eff. Has the best arm I've seen in a long time(better than Meyer and Nichols from EWU).

I think Andre Anderson of McNeese is really fun to watch. He's the energizer bunny who didn't play much until the Cal Poly game. Transferred from Mich St and had to acclimate to the South Louisiana weather in August and September. He runs North and South and takes some punishment. 1st team All-SLC as Doc says. I think the other guys have to beat him out when they come back. Thank goodness he chose McNeese.

You guys had a Mich St. transfer RB as well? WIU has Caulton Ray, also a RB transfer from Mich St. who had a very good season. I think Dantonio had no idea how to utilize his RB's during the '09 season. I remember they had like seven potential contributors, Caulton started the first four games as a freshman then never really saw the field again. I wonder how many of them ended up transferring.

#20 Colten Heagle - Safety - NDSU
http://image.cdnl3.xosnetwork.com/pics31/640/NM/NMLJHRHNVORIZMK.20101101012411.jpg
He is starting as a true freshman this year and has led the team in tackles every game that he has started. The senior strong safety that he is replacing is now on the bench except for mostly special teams. Heagle could be one of our better players right now, and that is saying quite a bit considering how well our defense has played.

We also have 2 true freshman starting on the OL, one at tackle and one at guard. Both are playing quite well. Our long snapper is also a true freshman.
True freshman ryan smith is our starting kickoff return specialist.
Marcus Williams - CB - freshman that looks like he could be another 4 year starter at cornerback.

So in other words, our team is EXTREMELY young. The Bison still managed to back into the playoffs xnodx
We return most everybody next year with the exception of a couple of playmakers on defense, namely Matt Gratzek at DT.

Florida A&M Key Players to Watch:

QB Austin Trainor...he didn't start until the final three games of the season, played very well and gave the offense a much needed spark...he was only a freshman.
WR TJ Lawrence(transfer from Florida) he made a HUGE impact on the offense this year.
RB's Eddie Rocker, James Owens, Lavontae Page

On defense
LB Willie Ferrell...played very well this year...he originally signed a letter of intent with wither LSU or Ole Miss and was one of the top high school LB's in the country.

FAMU only loses 11 seniors from this years team.

Besides the obvious (BJ,Bradford) for Chattanooga:

Kadeem Wise - Fr DB, SoCon Rookie of the yr, 6 interceptions, 6 PBUs. Great cover man.
Keon Williams - Fr RB, a big hard running back with great open field speed. he saw alot of time this yr and had glimpses of greatness, had some trouble droping the rock, but if he works that out over the spring....WATCH-OUT!!!!

I also saw two local boys, Jermey Caldwell at EKU and Tim Benford at TTU listed in the thread. Talent like that NO LONGER LEAVES TOWN!!!!! Russ has put a lock down on Chattanooga.

We're still licking our wounds from the nightmare that was 2010, but we'll have some weapons returning for 2011 - plus we'll have a couple of redshirts who will be counted on to step up.

We return our top three WRs...all had nice years despite injuries and inconsistency at the QB position...very talented group!

WR, Simmie Yarborough, 60 receptions, 709 yards, 9 TDs
WR, Brandon Collins, 56 receptions, 875 yards, 4 TDs
WR, Kory Theodore, 34 receptions, 622 yards, 4 TDs

Look for redshirts Gavin Webster, QB, and Jordan Wells, RB, to make impacts in 2011...in retrospect, we probably should have played Wells this year given the injuries and lack of depth we had at RB, but in the end, I think we'll be glad we didn't...both should add some explosiveness and big-play ability to our offense.

Treavor Scales, a junior by next season, is 2nd team All-Ivy this year at RB.

Kyle Juszczyk, also a junior next season, is HM All-Ivy at H-Back (combination of RB and WR).

I agree that a healthy Shuman will make a difference. The secondary should be better with a year of experience, but still questionable. The real question mark is at QB. Haven't seen Quinn play as he red shirted. I think Wilson is a solid backup, but if he's the starter, we will need to see A LOT of Shuman running the ball. Lehigh will have all but one skill player returning, led by QB Lum who has had a good season and should get better. WR Spadola, only a soph, has really opened some eyes and has the potential to be another Steve Kreider (who played for Lehigh on the National Championship team in 1977, and then 8 seasons for the Bengals in the NFL).

On defense, ILB Mike Groome will be back along with OLB Tanner Rivas. We also will get a medical redshirt for DT Phil Winnett who could be a big force. Secondary will see all new starters, though some underclassman (Andrews and Littlejohn) saw considerable time.

Punter Alex Smith returns as well. He's been excellent in terms of net yardage.

Lose a little on defense though.

DE Tanyi hopefully back to full strength after Med RS season.

Kimbrough at MLB (started this season there, then injury and they didn't want to move DJ Smith after that)
Then we'll see who steps up at WR beside Quick. Tony Washington is a good guess, maybe Peacock as well.

I agree with both. McNally is coming off a year when he was slowed by injuries and led the CAA in sacks and made 1st team All-CAA. There's a great article about him in today's Concord (NH) Monitor.
