On Oct 28, 1991, a small seafaring vessel called the “Andrea Gail” put out to sea on a fishing expedition.
On its return, the boat is engulfed by six storms, causing it to sink. The storm was first labeled “The Halloween Storm”, but later dubbed “The Perfect Storm”.
A book and movie was later made retelling the story.
The six fisherman aboard were never found.
It is presumed that the boat may have been able to survive one, two, maybe even three of the storms, but it had no chance against all six.
The relativity here is that many small things led up to one disastrous outcome.
In today’s world, the phrase “Perfect Storm” is used to describe the series of events that lead to a particular outcome, good or bad. It’s used in politics, finance, and in sports.
This past Saturday, there were a number of small events that led to an outcome that can be described as either disastrous in nature, or fortunate depending on your perspective. As I speak about games, I’ll try to point out the events that led to the final outcomes.
