The thread about school rivals got me to thinking about those teams that always seem to figure out a way to beat you. For SHSU I have to say it's Mcneese. The Cowboys have something like 25 wins to the Bearkat 7. Nichol;s' seems to have a spell on TXState.

In Houston it would seem that Grambling ALWAYS has their way with TX Southern.
They play tomorrow- it's the best TSU team in a long time.

So who has YOUR schools number?

For us, it's Penn. Under the early Restic years we owned a 9-game winning streak in this game (1973-81), but when Murphy took over he struggled to win against Penn at first (5 game winning streak from 1992 until 1996). But since 1997 it has been a see-saw battle of streaks, one or two.

NDSU had a 12 game win streak against UND from 1981-1992. UND broke it in 1993 with a 22-21 win. Since then UND was 9-3 against NDSU from 1993-2003 when the rivalry was stopped.

UNI & SDSU, the last few years, hopefully one stops on Saturday.

Texas State is coming into Cowboy Stadium this Saturday. They have won the last two at our place and 3 of 4 overall, I think. However, Bradley George is gone. Hopefully no one is at TX St to take his place this year as the Cowboy killer.

Furman's recent propensity to find a way to lose is undeniable, however. xlolx

Yeah, Furman has the lead 21-16-3, but App St has won the last 5 and 9 of the last 11. The first 16 games it was Furman leading 11-3-2, so it's certainly changed since then.

For some unbeknownst reason, Yale has just owned us over the decades. We are 4-27 lifetime against the Eli....no other opponent has come close to matching their dominance over us on the gridiron.

For Richmond, it's definitely Villanova. Since 1990, the Spiders have only won 5 times vs. 'Nova. In 2008 & 2009, the Wildcats made the losses even more painful by knocking us out of our #1 ranking.

Hampton. . . going back to our old CIAA days they won their first nine games against us and are 15 - 5 all time. We have not beaten the Pirates since 1983.

EVERYBODY! We've gotten some revenge on a few already this year and hopefully a couple more coming up, but tradition says everybody gets the Sycamores.

I expect that if App beats Wofford, even with a loss to UF, we'll be in the top 3. The way things look right now that means the only game west of the Mississippi would be Frisco. Have we ever played a neutral site game west of the Mississippi?

In recent years, it's been Penn, particularly at their place. Harvard has beaten Penn in Philly only twice since 1980: namely, 2004 and 2008.

Not neutral site but U of Kansas, U of Wyoming, Montana, Hawaii Northwestern State, and LSU come to mind.

Obviously I know we've played west of the Mississippi. My point was in reference to your saying that you want to break that tradition this year. Well App won't play west of the Mississippi this year unless it's Frisco, which technically would be next year anyway. xthumbsupx

Now if we lose to Wofford, we could potentially go to Cheney or Nacogdoches.

Samford and Wofford. Something about those fords, maybe that's why I drive a Chevy. :)

Samford won the last since they joined the SoCon.
Wofford has had our number through the post PJ years.

Prior to a 4 game win streak from 05-09, we were 4-18 against the Rattlers all-time.

A couple of notables; we're 2-0 vs UConn, 1-0 vs Akron, 1-0 vs BU, 6-1 vs Northeastern all during the 1980s xnodx

I looked through our records and two schools standout: Marshall and Montana. All the Marshall games were in the 90s at Huntington. I believe all the Montana games were in Missoula. Last game was 2001.

All time, UD's most lopsided losing record was vs. Swarthmore, though since they've dropped their program, it doesn't seem as if we will ever be able to even up the score.

All time and in the modern era, Villanova is the only CAA team that holds a winning record vs. UD, and even that is close at 20-22 in Nova's favor. Hopefully we come one notch closer to tying it up this year.

We'd been on a bad streak vs. the state of Virginia in general, but this year allowed us to at least break it against Richmond and JMU. The playoffs give us the potential opportunity to right the loss against W&M as well.

Villanova. Our recent 6 game contract came to an end this year with us winning only one. Should have been two with the squandered 16 point lead in 2005. I would love to see us get another crack at the Wildcats. The team is much better now than 9 weeks ago.

I was thinking about UNH, but we haven't played then since '07, and they aren't scheduled for next year either, so it's tough to say where the series would be had the CAA schedules not gotten so borked from the sudden departure of Hofstra and Neastern.

Delaware is 19-10 vs New Hampshire. 2-1 in UD's favor, I think you have it backwards.
