I am thinking this kind of schedule for this coming year. With a dwindled budget the schedule has been localized every other weekend. My boys have adopted ILSU as "our" team so again we will see them more than the rest:

8/27-9/4/2005 Hampton @ Jackson State (Detroit Labor Day Classic, Detroit, MI)
9/5-11/2005 Eastern Kentucky @ Western Kentucky (Battle of the Bluegrass)
9/12-18/2005 Illinois State @ Eastern Illinois
9/19-25/2005 Hofstra @ Furman
9/26-10/2/2005 Illinois State @ Youngstown State
10/3-9/2005 UC Davis @ South Dakota State (Sioux Falls, SD)
10/10-16/2005 Indiana State @ Northern Iowa (Homecoming)
10/17-23/2005 Northern Arizona @ Portland State
10/24-30/2005 Western Illinois @ Illinois State
10/31-11/6/2005 Nicholls State @ Northwestern State (Battle for NSU)
11/7-13/2005 South Dakota State @ North Dakota State (Dakota Marker Rivalry)
11/14-20/2005 The Citadel @ VMI (The Military Classic of the South/The Silver Shako)

12 Games
12 Stadiums
10 States
10 Conferences
21 Teams

I see you might not travel as much this year, but I am glad you are getting to combine work with time with your boys. I know the times I spend with my boys at Wofford games (whether the terriers win or lose) are some of the best memories I will have.

Ralph-

The game of the year could be 10/22 with an unbeaten & top-ranked JMU going to Newark to play an unbeaten Blue Hen team.

Ralph,
Hope to see you when you fly into Charlotte for that Furman game. We need to meet up for lunch that day or something. Maybe I can go to that game. If there is nothing else interesting that weekend I might go to that game. That one could be a very good game.

Week 8 | 10/17-23 - Sam Houston State hosts SFA in the "Battle of the Piney Woods". You should come down to that one. It'll be a great crowd. May even be televised on Fox Sports Southwest. Always is highest-rated SLC game on FoxSW throughout the year's football slate. Much better than Western Illinois @ Illinois State in my opinion, especially since your going to do Illinois once already. Why see Illinois State twice when you can see one of the longest rivalries this side of the Mississippi in I-AA football?

Listen to Terror Ralph, cmon down to the Southland for a good time and a great game.

I myself am going to try to make a few road games this season most notably the UH, TT, Mcneese and possibly the Northern Colorado game, my fieance has family in CO so we could call it a "family trip." But we all know the real reason. :)

That leaves these as "non-local":
9/5-11/2005 Eastern Kentucky @ Western Kentucky (Battle of the Bluegrass)
9/19-25/2005 Hofstra @ Furman
10/3-9/2005 UC Davis @ South Dakota State (Sioux Falls, SD)

11/14-20/2005 The Citadel @ VMI (The Military Classic of the South/The Silver Shako)

This is all just speculation right now...

yet another example of that midwest bias rearing it's ugly head again. You know when I read this it occurred to me I didn't see a PL team during the regular season last year...

Non-local in 2004:
8/28: Valparaiso @ North Dakota State
9/4: Maine @ Montana
9/11: Southeastern Louisiana @ McNeese State
10/2: Northern Iowa @ Southern Illinois
10/16: Appalachian State @ Georgia Southern
11/6: UMass @ Northeastern
11/6: Columbia @ Harvard
11/20: Villanova @ DelawareProblem is we have Chuck who sees nothing but PL games... we have to sort of spread out... plus I don't like to go to the same stadiums two years in a row and try to hit ones I haven't been to... I wish I had more to choose from that are drivable... no teams within two hours as it is...

So I guess your work keeps you from it. I'd have to look for another job. Or is it kids activities?

Ralph! Compare these two games for me that occur on 10/22/05:

The one you currently have planned: 10/17-23/2005 Northern Arizona @ Portland State

The one you SHOULD have on your plan: 10/22 JMU @ Delaware

I'm going to UVA next year, if you're wondering.

Glad to see you are visiting the Fargodome again. This years battle with SDSU should be a grudge match after they whacked us last year.

Portland is a great town, looks like a nice stadium, both teams should be pretty good and so far I can't figure out a different Big Sky game that fits in my schedule. I won't be booking the games until July so I'm sure some stuff will change.

But coming to Cedar Falls for Homecoming to see Cap'n Cat get recognized for his 1980's semifinals football team is a must! Plus it's Homecoming, and some strange things happen during that weekend!

Actually last year was just Lehigh games... I'm actually "spreading it out" to involve other non-Lehigh and other leagues (PL vs. Ivy and CAA... I mean A-10 teams). I'm still trying to work out the entire schedule, though Lehigh/Delaware and Lehigh/Lafayette are definites for me.

Maybe next year I'll hit W&M or JMU, but for now it's an overnight trip (5 hours), and since I value my marriage, I'm NOT proposing that one at this point in time.

And, yes, colgate13, family/job is a major concern... something needs to pay for 2.25 a gallon driving up to Hamilton... unless you'll spot me? :)

Not everyone's spouse is a I-AA alum (although I've converted mine to being a I-AA fan (at least a UD fan)). Mrs 89 has had season tix for UVA since before I met her. It's truly a great place to see a game.

Ralph,
I know I am slightly biased here, but I think the better game to see in Louisiana will be the Northwestern at McNeese game. The game is our biggest rival (probably Northwestern feels the same way) and it is always well attended.

McNeese will be improved this year and Northwestern should be picked to win the Southland (a good choice at this time of year). I sincerely believe this game will be one of the best games of the year, if not the best.
