Voting Time!
I-AA.org
http://www.i-aa.org/survey.asp
This past Spring we initiated the nomination process to suggest games for national television I-AA Game of the Week. All the nominations are in and now it's time to vote!
You receive one vote so select a game from each week and a game of the year, fill in your name and email address, and click the submit button.
Follow the results at I-AA.org. Once the survey is completed appropriate television networks will be notified of the recommendations. The networks retain the right to make final decisions. (last year's results (http://www.i-aa.org/article.asp?articleid=40408))
Ballots will only be accepted through the form until 11:59 p.m. on May 31, 2005. The results will be published shortly thereafter. (print weekly list (http://www.i-aa.org/2005GOTWlist.html))
(also please point out any mistakes ASAP)
I voted, Ralph. It's really hard not to be a homer, but my Game of the Year vote was NOT a Big Sky game (neither were the majority of my weekly picks, I think three were). Again, hard not to look as those tough games that affect your team or conference. Maybe next time through I'll actually change it up a bit. :D
Edit - oops, I just noticed that you said only the first vote counts. I read the first part of the line, but not the whole thing before. Well, guess I'm done. :) :) :) :o

I done my civic duty. Had a lot of trouble pullling the curtain, though... :D

My vote it is. :) Many great games, it was tought to narrow it down to just a few, especially for the game of the year!! Can't wait to see how it comes out.

In week two, isn't JMU at Coastal?

thanks Ralph. FYI, I saw in week 4 that the UMASS game is listed twice (once as being at UMASS and the other as being away). Not sure if that happened elsewhere but it obviously could mean a splitting of votes for that game.
... just figured I'd mention it.

My picks (this was tough)...
Southern @ McNeese (The Hole)
Lehigh @ Delaware (The Tub)
SC State @ Bethune (in Jax)
Villanova @ Penn (Franklin Field)
Illinois St @ YSU (The Ice Palace)

JMU @ Delaware (The Tub)
PSU @ Montana (Wash-Griz)
Furman @ GSU (Paulson)

Voted as well. Hope folks turn out and vote. I'd love to see Lehigh @ Harvard. I didn't vote outside of the SLC much, but that was one game I made sure to vote for.

Alrighty I have done my part. I to found it hard not to be a homer especially in the weeks that there were not any "outstanding" games. It was really hard every week because there was either a bunch of good games that made it hard to choose or a bunch of GREAT games that you had to choose from. I can not waite for the results.

week 5 has Ala St @ Southern, that game is in Mobile, Ala. It will probably be like a home game for us since we will have more fans there. :D It was that game a few years ago that the local beat writer coined the phase "Jaguar Nation". In addition it's the SCG rematch.

Really Interesting selections. But you know, that there is really not high quality 1-AA football out here in the West. :D :D ;) ;)

Ralph-
I had nominated the Northern Iowa @ Western Kentucky game as the Game of the Year. I didn't see it on the list. Is there a reason for that? Thanks!

As usual, I tried to maximize the number of different teams, spread it out geographically, not worry too much about the venue, spice it up with some variety, and picked games I would truly like to see.
1. UNH @ UC Davis
2. UMass @ Colgate
3. SE LA @ N. Colorado
4. N. Dakota State @ Montana State
5. Alabama State @ Southern (Gulf Coast Classic)
6. NW State @ Sam Houston State
7. E. Washington @ Montana
8. James Madison @ Delaware <---- GAME OF THE YEAR
9. Marist @ St. Peter's
10. Furman @ Georgia Southern
11. S. Illinois @ N. Iowa
12. Lafayette @ Lehigh (141st meeting)

C'mon Rock. I don't like to judge but that's a little silly.

Why not throw the non-schollies a bone once in a while? It looked like a slow week :)

Not with so few weeks to give out. YSU at UNI, PSU at Montana, TTU at JSU, UNH at UMass, Lehigh at Colgate..... these are all bigger games, at bigger venues, perhaps with playoff implications for all involved.

My picks:
Week 1: Furman @ J'ville St.
Week 2: Eastern Kentucky @ Western Kentucky (Battle of the Bluegrass)
Week 3: Western Illinois @ Stephen F. Austin
Week 4: Cal Poly @ South Dakota State (Beef Bowl)
Week 5: Northern Iowa @ Western Illinois---probably the weakest week of games
Week 6: Northwestern State @ Sam Houston State (Homecoming)
Week 7: Eastern Washington @ Montana
Week 8: James Madison @ Delaware (Parents & Family Weekend)
Week 9: Southern Illinois @ Western Kentucky
Week10: Northern Iowa @ Western Kentucky---I think this game could be the GOY in what should be two top 10 teams)
Week11: Southern Illinois @ Northern Iowa
Week12: Harvard @ Yale

Call me a homer but the Game of the Year has to be JMU @ UD, the last 2 national champs go at it.

Thanks for pointing out the goofs in the listings. All have been corrected. Posting stuff here kinda serves as another editing staff (that's a good thing!). :)

I doubt if anyone really knows which 1AA matchup will be the 'game of the year' yet. There a lot of candidates and I'm sure there will be plenty of surprises again this season. Picking the game of the year before the season starts is like predicting the weather three months in advance.

I voted for SDSU @ NDSU as game of the year for a couple of reasons. 1-I'm a homer. 2-The FargoDome will be sold out and rocking. 3-The Dakota Marker.

I know... but regardless I'd put that JMU/UD game up there. I can't see either of those teams having more than 1 loss at that time.
BTW, I can predict the weather 3 months in advance.
For the Orlando area August 10, 2005- Hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90's and 50%+ chance of afternoon and/or evening thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 70's. Winds from the east 10-15 mph. ;)

Wow! That's the forecast for Williamsburg on that day as well.

Eh, that was pretty tough. My game of the year is JMU @ Delaware...which is being a homer I guess, but if it's anything like last year's game, then it will be the game of the year.
And let's hope it's the same as last year's. :)

Week 10 is tough I went with Furman v GSU, but there are 4 or 5 other games I would love to see.

Cool to see someone pick our game with UNH for the first week.
I think it will be a good one.
I picked EWU-Montana as the GOTY.
It was really tough, but I picked Furman @ GSU as GOTY. JMU and UD would have been great too. EWU and Montana too. There are too many great possibilities, but you got to pick one, and Furman/GSU is right near the end of the year. It will probably mean the autobid and home field throughout. Plus, with the A-10 so strong, you don't know what will happen there.
I just don't know...    :o ;)

Game of the Year
With favorable schedules, JMU vs Delaware has the potential of being two undefeated teams, the two previous national champions, a revenge match in which the last meeting had UD with a HUGE advantage in yardage but unable to put it into the end zone when it counted.
But Delaware has a big test in Lehigh right up front - No way I'm looking past that.
