South Alabama is a non-counter. They have no reason being in there. They are unclassified!

Sagarin must be weighing Strength of Schedule at least 3 times more over Actual Record and accounting actual point total of games.

Either way, this should seriously help Jacksonville in the modified version of the GPI that the committee looks at.

Those computerized ranking systems can tell us things that humans look over but also at the same time can be out in left field...

Why should JU be ranked higher than Dayton? Dayton has a win already over what will probably be a ranked team, Bobby Mo, while JU's "quality win" was over ODU. Both are currently tied atop the PFL standings.... I guess you could argue that maybe JU has a better loss to App State versus Dayton's loss to Duquesne? Odd....

So number two and number three are both the Lumberjacks. This has gotta be a record or something.

Bobby Mo and ODU I think cancel each other out - and the difference between JU and Dayton is the loss to ASU looks better each week as opposed to the loss over Duquesne.

Furman is between New Hampshire and Sacramento State.

Sac State and Portland State are both better teams than most would give credit for. Substitute Maine for either of those and many eyebrows would not be raised.

That being said... wackiness. I can see PSU at 24 - really. Maybe that's the Big Sky Conference homer in me. But NAU at #2?? Really? Apparently I'm living in some alternate reality. NAU is a great team, but #2, 3 places ahead of App? Don't buy it.

Computer error.............Flash Crash..........

You guys should know better. Some results and ranking will seem odd every week. Us humans have a qualitative element to our analysis, whereas the computers are handicapped, relying on only quantitative data. But like some other guy said, on the other hand, they can also help point things out that are mind might not catch.

So no, those rankings do not seem odd to me.

C'mon guys. A computer ranking is just one persons opinion that has been automated so that it can be produced quickly. It is no smarter than any other person nor any more impartial. It uses what its' creator thinks is important.

5 Bethune-Cookman
6 Wofford
7 Grambling St

10 Eastern Washington

Free free to compile, hack, spin, weigh, fold, spindle, mutilate, hash, debug, re-compile & anti-hack these rankings with others into an even more convoluted heaping pile of stench. We'll call it ...

The Super-Duper (smells like Pooper) Gridiron Power Index To End All Gridiron Power Indexes
