View Full Version : Portland State at Montana State

October 9th, 2010, 01:19 PM
Kickoff scheduled for 1:30 pm MDT (12:30 pm PDT) from Bozeman. Homecoming weekend for the Bobcats, and a game featuring two exciting new quarterbacks in the conference in Connor Kavanaugh for the Vikings and Denarius McGhee for the Bobcats. Game is technically for the lead in conference play as the Bobcats are 2-0 (wins over Sac State and EWU) and the Vikings are 1-0 (win last week against ISU). Both have their only losses overall to the Pac-10 (Vikings lost to Arizona State and Oregon while the Bobcats lost in the last minute to Washington State). The Bobcats have not lost to the Vikings since a 44-41 shootout in Portland in 2005. The Bobcats are currently 9-2 against the Vikings all-time in Bozeman. Weather should be sunny but windy with temps in the 60's at kickoff.

Kickoff coming up. Weather update, all indications, sunny and little to no wind. Temps currently 65. "Beautiful day", according to PSU play by play Tom Hewitt. I knew I should have gone.

This game wasn't what I expected in the first quarter, but MSU seems to have found it's rhythm on both sides of the ball.

On a side note, why in the hell can I get the Elon/App St. game on TV and not the PSU/MSU game??? I LIVE IN WASHINGTON!!!! WEST FREAKIN COAST!!! DirecTV sucks.

At least you got live telecast. Our live telecast got moved to tape delay because of all the cryin' done by Duck fans who were not going to be able to see the Duck-Couger game.

Nice homecoming win today in sunny Bozeman (last year at this time we were freezing to death) against a rapidly improving Portland State squad-I think Burton has them going in the right direction. Also-an overflowing crowd-a good week to announce a stadium expansion.

I'm glad the Vik's are in our rear view. Much improved and hopefully will cause some problems for both Eastern and the Griz.

Agreed. #81 and #1 were giving us fits there for awhile yesterday. PSU is going in the right direction for sure.

I thought conference fans would recognize #81. Julius Thomas played four years of basketball for PSU. This is his first (and only) year playing football since high school.

#1 is Cory McCaffrey. He rushed for the most yards in Oregon high school football history. Still, he didn't get much looks as he played for a small school (Sisters). He had an opportunity to walk-on at Oregon State, but he was given a chance to play at PSU. His size, though, was not typical for a run and shoot back so Mouse Davis moved him to WR. Burton moved him back to RB, he took over the starting spot and has been pretty good so far.

Thank you all for the kind words. It is great to hear that this rebuilding project may be closer to completion than we thought.

PSU now vs. PSU with Glanville is night and day. Glanville was all hype. You've got a great coach over there that knows what he is doing. PSU may very well be in the top 25 by the end of season.
