The backfield tandem of Connor Kavanaugh and Cory McCaffrey dominated Idaho State and led the Vikings to a 38-3 Big Sky opening win at Hillsboro Stadium. Kavanaugh, a junior quarterback, completed 15 of 19 passes for a career-high 216 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for a career-high 125 yards on 15 carries. Meanwhile, McCaffrey, a junior running back, carried 24 times for a career-high 166 yards and a score. With three catches for 35 yards and another touchdown, McCaffrey had 201 total yards.
