This is the game of the week in the Socon. Wofford is coming off an impressive win at home against the Purple Pansies and Georgia Southern is coming off a bye week.
Both offenses run the triple option and both defenses have held their own so far. Georgia Southern's Defense has the statistical lead with the #1 total defense in the Socon. They also held the triple option threat of FBS Navy(yes, I know Wofford runs a different version) to only 109 yards and 9 first downs.
Wofford has the #2 total defense (in socon) but is #4 in rushing defense (in socon). This could lead to a little bit of trouble when facing the #2 rushing offense of the Eagles.
This is one series in which recently home field advantage has not mattered. The road team has won in the last 3 meetings. Georgia Southern has defeated Wofford 2 of the last 3 meetings both in Spartanburg. Wofford defeated GSU in overtime in Statesboro in 2008.
When all is said and done statistics don't mean anything. This will be a hard fought battle that is won in the trenches. IMO this is easily the game of the week in FCS.
