This past week saw some interesting results. I thought Samford and The Citadel were going to get throttled but their effort was good in defeat. The power rankings are:

1) Appalachian State - Great effort vs. Samford.
2) Furman - Great effort vs. The Citadel.
3) Georgia Southern - I am beginning to believe that the swagger is back.
4) Chattanooga - Good effort vs. Western Carolina.
5) Elon - Once ranked in the top ten nationally, their stock has tumbled.
6) Wofford - We'll find out what they're made of vs. Furman this week.
7) Samford - Had nothing to be ashamed of this week
8) The Citadel - see Samford
9) Western Carolina - see Samford

This week's picks:

Samford @ Elon
Furman @ Wofford
Western Carolina @ The Citadel
ASU, Georgia Southern, Chattanooga - off

I'm convinced that Dennis Wagner just didn't want to open up the playbook against NC State and Tusculum. Western doesn't look bad at all in their last two games and they can play spoiler for sure.

All in all the SoCon seems pretty solid. Every team with the possible exception of Elon is better than the general consensus of how good the teams would be preseason.

I am pretty sure Samford plays at Elon next week.

I honestly think The Citadel will upset someone down the line. Furman has a pretty good offense and we were struggling today. If they can get to where they can hold onto the football, they will upend someone.

Western is just having issues with 3rd down for defense oh and of course the offense. It seems like we are getting better however and may be able to pull off a couple wins this year.

Turnovers killed us, but that being said... our offense is way ahead of where I thought they were going to be this year. Our defense is a very pleasant surprise as well, and much improved over last year.

If we can take care of the ball and go with Martin at QB I think we are going to be in good shape after midpoint in the season. Very excited about this team.

At the beginning of the season I was thinking we would struggle to win 4 games, but maybe now we might have a chance ton win 5 or even 6 if we can just get receivers to catch the ball and master the QB-FB exchange.

Nice to see the big three again. Now we just have to do something about that order.

Your ranking looks spot on at this point of the season.
