WFMZ is Channel 15 here in Delaware (for those with FiOS), also get some nice AAA Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs baseball action to see the Phillies future. Lehigh driving just outside the red zone. Nice to see the game on tv here even though it's being played at Drake.

Lehigh marches right down the field for a TD. Lum was perfect on the drive. 7-0 Lehigh 10:26 1st Q

TD Lehigh! Lehigh looks really good. This drive was helped by a personal foul on Drake. Even so, 14-0 Lehigh 3:21 1st Q.

14-0 Lehigh. Drake isnt anywhere near as good as I thought they would be.

Interesting drive for the Mountain Hawks, didn't look very good, but then a big Personal Foul after a stop on 3rd down gave them new life.

Agree Lehigh looks good. However, Drake is small and slow.

14-0 after 1 quarter. I believe Lehigh out gained Drake 149-21. The Hawks will start the 2nd Q deep in their own territory.

TD Lehigh!!

This is all Hawks. 11 play 87 yard drive. They're doing if both running and passing.

Drake finally makes play by blocking a FG attempt. They were able to return the ball to the LU 39 yard line.

Drake had some questionable time management to end the half. As it is the Lehigh defense holds and Drake misses a FG attempt.

21-0 at Half, complete domination.

Let me see, how many total yards did Drake have, about 50, tops?

Very questionable time management seems to be a running thread in several games I've seen this weekend.

Lehigh's offense had bogged down some. The defense continues to dominate.

Drake punches it in - 21-7 now

Drake gets helped by a couple questionable PI calls as they get on the board, 21-7 with about 5 minutes left in the 3rd Q. Lehigh needs to get something going on offense again.

As much as Lehigh is "dominating" so far, it could easily be 14-14 now if two plays changed - the 3rd down penalty against DU that gave Lehigh new life (and eventually a TD) and a missed pass to a wide open DU receiver that would have been about an 80 yard TD.

I'd like to see some more out of LU before I get too excited...

Drake scores, 21-14. Penalties are killing the Hawks. There was a blatant holding call on Drake they didn't call.

Lehigh completely screws up the kickoff and Drake recovers the fumble. They're beating themselves again. Dejavu....

Can't complain about the officiating too much - if Lehigh was playing better, the officiating wouldn't matter

Pathetic play by Lehigh in the second half.

kardplayer

Drake has run the same screen play a bunch of times - might be nice if someone figured out how to stop it.

It is a pretty similar play to the one we've run since at least the 90's, so you would think the coaches would be familiar with it

TD Lehigh!! That was a very good drive for the Lehigh offense after the D came up with a big stop.

28-14 LU about 4 minutes left in the 4Q

Drake played much better in the second half. Good job by Drake to step up, but Lehigh is quite a bit better physically.

The speed difference was biggest thing, imo, especially on defense. There's definitely a lot of positives to take away from this but the inability to maintain a full 60 minutes is still a concern. About what i expected overall. There was some good and some bad, but the positives ultimately outweigh the negatives. I like how the team responded to adversity in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Anyone who watched football today knows very fews games were "pretty". The biggest thing is eliminating mistakes. Lehigh beats themselves too many times. The one Drake scoring drive Lehigh gave the Bulldgos about 40 yards in penalties.

The positives were Lehigh won the game and the offense looked much better under Cecchini. The negatives included way to many penalties, dropped passes and other mistakes. In the second half Drake repeated ran the same plays over and over with great success.

Congrats to Lehigh, they were certainly the better team tonight. Drake stepped it up in the second half but we just don't have the offensive weapons to hang with a more athletic team.

lots of positives, particularly Lum and Spadola and both lines. Down,, way too many mistakes and penalties. O still a work in progress, they left lots of points on the field. D overall was superb, still allowed Drake wrs too much room and too many completions. Sacks were cool. Brown has really stepped up his play.

Just got up a bit ago from our red eye back from Des Moines. Certainly was an entertaining game. I agree with much posted above. The defense was very good, overall, with that great statement after the botched kickoff 'return'. Seven sacks is amazing and Lum was not sacked once. Great job by the OL, and they ran right at the DEs start the game.
The penalties were the most bothersome. Something that needs to be corrected immediately. The one Drake drive had twice as many penalty yards as yards gained. Probably good to have some 'teachable' moments coming out of this game. A real blowout might have had the wrong effect going into Villanova. The players know they have ability, but they also know they have a lot of work to do.
Biggest downside of the night appears that Jaren Walker's career is over. Very serious knee injury in the second half. Soph. TE Haggins also suffered what appeared to be a knee injury of some type, but not as serious.
Biggest upside was how the offense responded to Lum. It looked like the Lehigh offense of old. With the already solid defense, there is cause for optimisim on South Mountain.
Really enjoyed the trip. Des Moines has a great farmers market on weekends downtown that we got spend some time at. People were very nice at Drake, their asst. AD even dropped by out tailgate, which had about 100 LU faithful. Disappointing crowd..under 4,000. Lehigh had a boisterous group of about 200 in the east stands. Very nice, classic stadium. Reminded me, somewhat, of Bucknell's with the brick.
I spoke with several coaches the night before, and they felt that from the film they had seen that we were the physically superior team in strength and speed, and it showed. The lack of the 'killer instinct' in the third quarter and lack of focus resulting in ove 100 yards in penalties was the biggest concern coming out. That, however, is correctable. Ability-wise, this game should result in some new confidence going into next week's monster game with Villanova.

OMG,, terrible news on Jaren. That kid has had no luck at all.
