This kid must have really wowed Coach Broadway...he's not prone to much praise and definitely not to a true freshman. I can't wait to see this kid play!

He's just made plays," Grambling head coach Rod Broadway said Monday.

Carrothers threw for 4,028 yards and 36 touchdowns for Independence High (Charlotte, N.C.) last year. He finished high school with 10,775 passing yards, second in Mecklenburg County and state history behind former University of Florida quarterback Chris Leak.

"He's going to be an outstanding college football player," said Broadway, who also plans to play more than just Carrothers against the Bulldogs on Saturday. "He understands the game; how to play the game."

What does this do to Grambling's chances in the opener against La Tech? Seems like a uphill climb to begin with and now it got much steeper with the FR QB and Anthony's health situation....

I was wondering what was going to happen to him. Being from around Charlotte i'm not the least bit surprised. I first saw him in the Charlotte Observer as a sophomore.
