Article leads one to believe that Curry could still gain eligibility, but the head coach is under the impression that he's likely out. Another blow for the SSU program.

Has there been any more about the coaching status of Dixon? And if he'll get the job full-time at season's end?

Savannah State University's football coaching staff believes quarterback Kurvin Curry remains academically ineligible to play this season, interim head coach Julius Dixon told the Savannah Morning News on Friday night.

"That's the truth," Dixon said during a telephone interview from Norfolk, Va., where he attended the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's annual media gathering. "I am operating under the assumption that he's out."

Curry, a 6-foot-1, 216-pound sophomore last season, was academically ineligible to participate in spring practices this year and last year.

Once they started spring ball with Dixon at the wheel, it became pretty clear that he was going to be in charge going into this fall as well. However, the "interim" tag isn't coming off any time soon. The SSU president has stated publicly that hiring a permanent football coach is going to be the responsibility of the AD -- once they hire a permanent AD. There is currently no timeline for hiring a permanent AD.

Have they not hired a permanent AD since Bart Bellairs left to take the post at Savannah State?

With Dixon, SSU has had nine different head coaches in the last 15 years. Would anyone be surprised to see a tenth?

No. Marilynn Suggs was appointed as the interim AD when Bellairs left. She herself has publicly stated that she doesn't want the AD job but, again, there is currently no plan to replace her.

SSU's doing everything they can to keep the ball rolling... downhill. How do you even hire a coach without a valid drivers license?

I am for obvious reasons rooting hard for Julius, but dang I wish he could hang his start on another program.

Their WR coach from App just resigned. Every time you think they've bottomed out...
