Last paragraph mentions that LSU will schedule Nicholls and Southeastern in the future, though no agreements have been made.

Guess we're all still under the impression that SLU and Nicholls are on tap for '12 and '13'. Wonder what that means for '14 if Jax State is on track for '15.

Were one of the two HBCUs in the state willing to face LSU? I heard they were not interested from those in the NOLA media, but read here from fans that there was an interest.

Thought this was interesting...

The Gamecocks open this season at Ole Miss, and over the following five years will play Kentucky, Florida, Auburn, Michigan State of the Big 10 (for $600,000) and LSU. They are looking for secondary guarantee games in 2013 and ’14, primarily geared toward Conference USA and Sun Belt teams.

Jax State is trying to raise $750k (if not more) a year from guarantee games. Are they that hurt financially? Trying to pay off the stadium upgrades? Preparing for FBS by getting more $$$ in their coffers?

There was interest, especially from Tony Clayton(SU's Board Chairman) but Verge Ausberry(LSU associate AD) said he wouldnt schedule SU or Gram. Imagine that. But im glad its not going to happen for SU. We do have to share the same city.

So - just four conference games? Aren't we doing 4 home, 4 away in league play in '11? Guessing you have the game at UT-Martin and dare I ask how many FBS games?

Unless there's a change, we'll have two...Southern Miss and Tulane.

Those are not big money guarantee games. SLU has done a great job scheduling nearby FBS games that are conceivably, 'winnable'. Surprised Tulane inked SLU for back-to-back years. They may bail out after the Lions' win this year! :)

With $2 million in bond payments due annually starting in December, extra cash doesn't hurt. But then, extra cash doesn't hurt any time one's trying to run a competitive FCS program (or any time at all, football involved or not, for that matter). Both 2013 and 2014 are 12-game years. It makes sense to try to wring some cash out of bonus games like that. Plus, C-USA or SBC teams give us a slightly improved chance at a victory to go with the check.

Jacksonville St. would like to bring in $1 million a year in game guarantees.
