FCS teams in Summer 7 on 7

How many other schools play 7 on 7 against nearby schools?

I know it's not "true" football, but it's something for the skill players to work with over the Summer.

The Texas State players have played Texas Lutheran, Incarnate Word, and UT so far this summer.

And WON all of them! Yes, you heard that right...the Bobcats beat the Longhorns last night 4-3. We play them again on Monday.

Not anything to get TOO excited over, but it is certainly encouraging to see our skill players and defensive backs go up against the best in the nation and come out on top. http://bobcatfans.com/forums/images/smilies/eatemup.gif

College Football: Bobcats lock in during 7-on-7 with UT

Austin — Texas State quarterback Tim Hawkins acted like an old-school telephone operator Wednesday afternoon.

Between Hawkins’ own teammates calling him wondering if their rescheduled 7-on-7 workout was still on with the 2009 BCS National Championship Game runner-up Texas Longhorns and their opponents asking the same question, the redshirt sophomore fielded close to 30 calls in the span of an hour.

“It was insane,” Hawkins said. “Until 3:30 this afternoon, we had no idea what was going on, but all it took was one call to get things rolling and soon enough, it was on.”

Three hours later, Hawkins and about 30 teammates piled into their cars and traveled 32 miles north to take on Texas.

From the beginning of the workout, it looked as if Texas State was overmatched by the quicker and stronger Longhorns.

I heard NC A&T and Elon played 7 on 7 a week ago. Haven't verified though.
