GEORGETOWN = 58

This must be the year of the cavalry charge in the Patriot League. Georgetown’s recruiting class of 34 marks the third 30+ group this year. Quantity sure helps if you’re a downtrodden program that has registered a lot of defections over the years, but this class may be just what the doctor ordered to begin to cure an ailing Hoya. There are not just a lot of bodies, but there appear to be the right kinds of bodies in just the right places. Now it’s up to the coaching staff to do some hand holding through the inevitable losing and to make sure that these guys are available when they reach their productive years.

QUALITY = 10: The faithful probably wanted a little more here, but you have to start somewhere. Details, and a comparison with prior years:
2010: 6 rated players (18% of the class). Two 2-stars, both from Rivals, not confirmed by Scout.
2009: 4 rated recruits (14%); no 2 stars
2008: 12 rated recruits (36%); four 2-stars. This was the year of the 2-star QB at Georgetown.
2007: 5 rated recruits (17%); no 2 stars

CLASS SIZE = 8: 34 recruits.

DISTRIBUTION = 9: Coach Kelly covered all the bases, even TE.

SPEED = 8: The usual disclaimer: there is limited information for this category, and even that information is questionable.

TRIGGER = 2: 1 recruit; a 2-star rating from Rivals, only rated with no stars from Scout. He apparently hung in to the last waiting for a FBS or top 10 FCS offer.

JUMBO = 9: 9 OL, 7 @ 270+; 5 DL, 2 @ 250+

NEEDS = 12

OL = 5 (of 5): 9 recruits, 7 Jumbos, 2 are rated, one a 2-star. The OL recruits average 279, and that's before college level conditioning and massive quantities of Hoyaburgers. A glaring hole may have been filled.
RB = 4 (of 4): 4 recruits, 1 rated.
DB = 3 (of 3): 4 recruits; 1 rated.

THE COMMITTEE’S ADJUSTMENTS = 0:

THE RATINGS RACE With 1 To Go:

81 Lehigh
74 Holy Cross
60 Lafayette
58 Georgetown
28 Fordham*
25 Colgate
*Fordham has gone full scholarship. Patsy Rating methodology may not be appropriate for scholarship football.

Finally GU got some LM. Give them 2 yrs and a few skill kids and they will compete. Two of those LM took GU over LU. Hoya's still have to put together a few more classes to move up to top half of Pl but a great start

dont want to start anotherthread on schollies , which issue has been beaten to death, but this is GU's 1st complete class with an abundance of LM for a change. Mon and Tues PL holding spring meeting which will lay the framework for final decision in dec on merit aid.I am hoping that GU has with this class decided to put some emphasis on football. But what will happen with a positive ruling on merit aid?
