This would be a great game. I just wondered who would win this game. I have to say GSU in a shoot out. I think that TO and AP running the ball would would keep AE on the bench. What do you think??

Well, the 2007 Eagles were able to beat App in their place, so I would have to say that the much better 2000 Eagles would pull it out.

Wow... how did you get to this site? Did you type in the word "Any Given Saturday"? You can't seriously contend that the 2007 GSU team was better than the 2007 ASU team, can you? I mean, the best teams have bad weeks and lose games that they definitely shouldn't. It was AE's first game back from injury and he had a rough start. And ASU actually just ran out of time on their last possession. Had there been more game clock, they probably would have scored and won.

I think you're completely over-simplifying here.

Hmmm. Would be an awesome offensive show. It would have come down to who had the ball last with enough clock to score.

I guess you have to revel in history.........because that what GSU football is ......HISTORY!

I never said that the 2007 Eagles were flat out better than the 2007 Apps, simply that they were able to win. Which they did. So if the 2007 Eagles could beat the 2007 Apps, then logically the much better 2000 Eagles could too.

Actually, no where in your post did anything represent any sort of logic. Basically, you are saying because ASU lost a game during 2007, they should easily lose to the 2000 Eagles team.

By your 3rd grade logic, any Furman team better than the 2000 team that beat GSU 45 - 10 should beat the 2000 GSU team.

I know that in your neck of the woods a 3rd grade education is a fantastic dream, so I'll spell it out for you. If we were to apply mathematical logic, then: A>C B>A so B>C

Obviously this is not an absolute rule once we apply to something as variable as sports, but a similar line of logic still applies. If the 2007 Eagles were able to win against the 2007 Mounties and the 2000 Eagles were better than the 2007 Eagles, then the 2000 Eagles would be able to beat the 2007 Mounties. Not every single time, and maybe not even most of the time, but they could do it.

I don't know why you're so upset about this, unless its left over jealousy from a heartbreaking defeat 2 years ago.

The transitive property does not pertain to sports... If that is the case, then the 2006 ASU team is better than the 2006 Florida Gators.

The 2000 ASU team was closer to the 2000 GSU team than the 2007 GSU team was to the 2007 ASU team with a healthy AE. If ASU could have faced GSU at a neutral site in 2000 I believe they could have beaten GSU, **** you Jimmy Farris.

People seem to always default to the 2007 ASU team as the best in ASU history, but IMO the 2006 team was the best, they actually played defense.

Point for/against:

2006 - 528/223
2007 - 641/400

There have been some epic battles in the ASU/GSU series - 1987 - ice bowl, 1994 - Bake Baker's failed comeback, 1999 - #1 GSU falls in Boone, 2000 - GSU gets revenge, 2008 - OT triller in Statesboro. I'd like to forget the 2004 match, just as GSU would like to forget last year's.

Then the 2007 App State team is better than Florida, who we play later this year. Since we beat Michigan that year, and Michigan beat Florida in a bowl game.
Poor Florida, they do not know what they are going to receive this year.

I said that it doesn't apply in absolute terms, but it does have applications. As I have already said, I am not saying that the 2000 GSU team would beat the 2007 ASU team with no questions asked. I simply stated that it would be possible for it to happen since a worse 2007 GSU team managed to pull it off.

GSU would like to forget most of last year entirely. Actually, most of the last 3 years.

Who knows.

AP wasn't healthy in 2000. There is a reason he didn't play in most of the game vs. ETSU, none of the game @ Furman, and wore a brace on his arm throughout the playoffs.

Answering these sorts of questions is an exercise in futility.

I think a lot of people around would agree with you that the 2006 team was the best of App State's championship run. Also, the UMass team that ASU beat in the championship game was probably one of the better teams in recent years not to win the title. UMass was much better IMO than the Northern Iowa team that lost in the 2005 final and the Delaware squad that was beaten in the 2008 championship game.
