Who were the winners and losers?
I had Nova and I chose Northeastern over Hofstra (no good reason) as my loser.

Nova should be biggest win (obvious) but biggest loss HAS to be South Dakota St. Right?

I picked SDSU as the biggest loss as well, simply for how that loss changed the makeup of the whole tournament.

As always, though, it depends on how you interpret "most significant." One could make a case for SIU. Of all the top teams, they were the most "exposed" during the playoffs and as a result had a big dropoff.

I voted all year, but missed this one, I'll just consider ASU and W&M tied. Actually I would have put UR above W&M based upon a head to head the last game of the season.

Who would you put in their place? They beat McNeese and EWU head-to-head, and they advanced a round further in the playoffs than did SDSU (about whom one could just as easily say, "can a team that blows a four-touchdown lead late in the fourth quarter ever be in the top ten?"). SFA had a bad quarterfinal playoff game against the eventual national runner-up. That doesn't negate their otherwise excellent season.

Rightfully so. W&M's defense was great, but they weren't the third best team in the country IMO. Heck, they finished third in the CAA South and third overall in the AGS poll. Guess that proves the CAA really is that good.xlolx

My poll had Butler at 25 and was denied. Would have put ASU to a tie with W&M. I had ODU at 24 and CCSU at 25 at the end of the regular season with no questions asked, but this one with ODU still at 24 and Butler at 25 was denied. Makes no sense to me. It was approved the final week of the regular season. What changed between the two polls to cause a change in what was approvable? xconfusedx

ODU had more wins against D-I competition than many teams that were in the final poll.

Come on, man, you're seriously trying to defend placing ODU in the top 25? They lost to Fordham (a team that lost to Rhode Island by double digits) and to Monmouth (a team that lost by double digits to Robert Morris). Neither Fordham or Monmouth had winning records in what few would call power conferences. They played only two teams with winning records this year (DII Virginia Union was 6-4, although they got thumped by an average PSAC team, and Jacksonville was 7-4) and their SOS was easily at or near the bottom of all of FCS.

No one's pooh-poohing ODU's innagural year, it was a fantastic start-up year. But no one seriously believes, except for potentially you, that ODU was one of the 25 best FCS teams this year.

ODU being ranked would be an absolute joke. Having more wins than other ranked teams would be an argument if ODU played even a mediocre schedule. ODU played a starter schedule and did very well. Even if they were undefeated they still shouldn't be ranked.
Play a MUCH tougher schedule, have the same W-L record, and I'd have no problem with ODU getting votes.

Yeah, just like those killer schedules that the Ivy League plays every season, Tell me again why Ivy teams are ranked every year? All polls have bias, but AGS is the absolute worst. Much like the overall flavor of this entire website.

But if it was acceptable after the regular season (poll approved), why not after the playoffs (poll denied)? What teams that were NOT in my (approved) top 25 after the regular season won games to improve their standing and jump over teams that did not play?

Not specifically arguing for ODU - asking what changed from late November to late December to make a team that was accepted in the top 25 one month no longer acceptable a month later. xnonox

Have not seen any valid explanations for that yet.
