Loved the story about Deji...

Armanti wins! Man, that was quick! Congrats to the first 2-time winner, AE! Deji and Hudgins were certainly deserving.

Not a surprise, a deserving winner..
three things
AE becomes the only two time winner ever
Brian Finneran remains the only Wide Receiver ever to win it
AE really should have considered a black suit with a gold tie rather than the other way around.. that's just gaudy.

The only bad thing about being an FCS fan is we don't get to see all-timers like AE play, except for the playoffs...and I hadn't seen how dominant Montana's team can be this year until last weekend's game. Stats don't always tell the story, I am sure you Appy fans would agree, you have to see the plays these guys can make!

The coach was basically just talking about how much Deji had to go through to get to this point. He had a bad injury and was close to giving up football, it sounded like. He took a redshirt season and made a full recovery and seemingly came out of nowhere to put up his eye-popping numbers this year. Seems like a good kid.

SalukiJim
December 17th, 2009, 08:33 PM
Yeah, a year ago this time he was wondering if he'd ever get to play, wanting to be as good as Larry Warner (last year's Saluki featured back, had 3 TDs on KO returns and something like 2000+ total yards of offense).

As season ticket holders, we get to do the "adopt-a-dawg" program where we get to meet the players, and every time I've seen or heard Karim he is very soft spoken and the least egotistical guy you could meet.

Hey, if gold suits is what it takes to make a player, he will be the fashion-setter! Everybody wants what he has had, in terms of success, that's for sure! I think they'd wear pink tu-tus xwhistlex if it meant half of the success of AE

I agree! I would love to see more, we as App fans were lucky enough to see another FCS power at home in McNeese St. But I'd welcome the chance to see some more FCS games on TV other than just the playoffs. It'd be nice if ESPNU or FSN would do a game of the week on TV somehow. Wishful thinking. I'm a converted FBSer, but most FBS games are just a bore to me.

Sorry off topic...I digress.

Rams...ugh! We need about 45 new players, I would not wish any rookie QB to have the bad fate of playing for this dis-organization...since whatever QB would have to be able to run for his freaking life on every play, maybe somebody with AE's speed would fit the bill. They're down to playing a division II (W. Tx A & M) qb now, so ANYTHING would be better...

Well, we have certainly had a good run - Brandon Jacobs, Terry Jackson, Arkee Whitlock, Larry Warner, and now Deji. Actually our best runner next season might be the redshirt freshman QB that was forced into duty - McIntosh. We don't have any real candidates that I saw this season, ready to step into the role. Of course, as Karim himself says after every game, it's all about the O-Line. We should be OK there, but I haven't seen any of the younger backs we have display any of the moves or speed of Karim, Warner, or Whitlock.

New stadium next year, everybody has their hopes up, so we'll see...

You're right - he's the one guy that really attacks the hole in their WR group. Of course, they started the season with 4 whole WR's on the roster...But yeah, Amendola is a keeper. Out of the 53-man roster, he's one of about 5-10 that don't need to go...so look for them to trade him to a contender!
