Since 1981, the first time the NCAA Division I Championships had a round of four games, the four losing teams averaged 76 points combined every year with 1996 being the least amount at 52 points..

This year, three of the four losing teams; Stephen F. Austin, Southern Illinois, and New Hampshire combined for just 10 points! Even though the last losing team Richmond scored 31 points, it was a record-setting day of low scoring in defeat of 41 combined points.
