Since this is all we at McNeese have remaining following our UNH loss, who in the FCS has the best tailgating experience? (Food, fans, location, all around good time.):D

I can only comment on the ones I've personally seen. Not in any order, Montana, Georgia Southern, Southern, and YSU were all good.

You are too modest... McNeese has a GREAT atmosphere, great fans, great grub, and having the ability to walk to the Frosty Factory gives them an unfair advantage!!!!

I wouldn't say that ASU has the best tailgating experience, but things have definitely changed over the last 7 - 8 years. They opened up the rules and the Administration actually encouraged tailgating.

Illinois State's tailgating scene has grown over the last 10 years or so, but I still don't know if we are in the top tier of tailgating in FCS. Like us, SIU has pretty awesome tailgating, with not a lot of people entering the stadium.

I've heard North Dakota State and Youngstown (out of the Valley) have stellar tailgating scenes.

The change to a lottery for students to get tailgating spots in Raley and Greenwood parking lots has made tailgating much milder, IMO. I didn't see Greenwood full once this year and Raley seems a little more "calmer." The days before the lottery were nuts! The true fans came out at 7am to get their spots and partied hard.

ASU is definately struggling in the tailgate area... limited amount of parking space and the abundance of alumni parking gives our campus only 1 or 2 lots to tailgate as a whole... I believe if we had more room then we could create an even better atmosphere.

Same thing appears to have occured in Richmond, KY. In my days at EKU, we tailgated in the shadows of the local PD, now they are much more flexable. If our rowdy parking lot students ever went into the game, WATCH OUT! xwhistlex

Well, I was only listing tailgating at other schools. I know ours is pretty good and the Frosty Factory across the street is a big plus.

JMU was the same way. Parked the night before or got in line at 8am to get in the main lot. Went to season ticket holders and now is 1/2 empty when the game STARTS. With 1/2 the space and an increasing student population, our tailgate space is minimal to what it needs to be. Our tailgate is probably a B- now after picking up the last few years.

i duno though .... in terms of sheer VOLUME of tailgaters we are in the top 5, but thats mostly a product of having more students than a lot of these schools, rather than fan intensity. But tailgating consumes the entire campus now on gamedays

Agree, we just don't have many "over the top tailgates" really. Just standard with the whole campus involved. App St. game comes to mind as a crazy tailgate but thats based on volume and length.

Well, Boiling Springs, NC ain't the most exciting place in the world I can assure you of that. But, I wouldn't trade our tailgating experience at Gardner-Webb University for anything I have experienced this past season and we went to every game. The only one that came close was at VMI - but, it was their homecoming and those games mean more at the military schools than they do elsewhere for the most part.

Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

A lot of RV's in the McNeese lot. Northwestern doesn't even get that many RV's. Must be a southern/country thing. Those r sum purty cheeeerleeedrs yall got there 2.

I've been to less than a half dozen ...so sheltered I am..

My Top three are:

1. Chatty's under the Pavilion roof....McNeese's gumbo took the Cake!
2.Montana's
3.MSU's

Pretty homogenized for all my travels....

I'm sure if the Griz scheduled the Mexico St. Banditos , and I went to the game ...I'm sure I'd like their Tacos, and their local flare as well..Sie...

Note: Would also attend a masked Mexican wrestling match as well.

this is really only half of the tailgating at Griz games. If the camera pointed 180 degrees the other way, it stretches around the stadium that way on "tailgate road" as well.
