The general manager of the Fargodome is a turd. If I had the power to, I would've flushed his sorry sack a long time ago.

2015 or 2016 until the ACL-shreading carpet is replaced? And then when it is replaced, they're just going to replace it with the new version of the same roll-it-up ACL-shreading crap!

F'ing pathetic. Screw the Fargodome.

NDSU needs to build an on-campus stadium for football with REAL fieldturf. xrulesx

As in, not that cheap imitation fieldturf. Accept no substitute.

I have no beef with fieldturf, just thought your last phrase was funny.

Magic Carpet II is a fake attempt to replace the turf. It will be no better than the crap they have in.

All they care about is how fast they can roll it up and shove it in that cubby hole. They could care less if the whole team tears their ACLs.

Maybe they can team with SDSU and get a volume discount on the real deal.

That won't do us much good without a stadium around it.

Boy what I wouldn't give to be able to give NDSU $100million for a brand new on-campus stadium, 25k seats, outdoors, REAL fieldturf.

Screw the Fargodome.

Every coach dreams of a player with an exceptional all-around game. That's the best way to think of AstroTurf PureGrass. A premium, multi-purpose, extra plush turf with a high fiber density and a thick Root ZoneŽ that performs like a pro - outdoors and indoors. No Fill Required (NFR) technology reduces the amount of infill required, and in some cases, eliminates it altogether.

Designed for both portable and permanent use either indoors or outdoors, PureGrass looks and plays like natural grass. Providing maximum shock absorbency, PureGrass is compatible with a number of shock pads and base options. Base construction can be concrete, crushed stone, E-LayerŽ or asphalt.

Whatever game plan you run with, PureGrass will be ready.

The Northern Michigan and Northern Iowa turfs roll up in sections (something like 18 sections for a full field).

According to the turd general manager of the Fargodome, that just doesn't fit his bottom line for having to pay people to roll it up and the extra time it takes.

He wants a single piece of turf on a single roll, like they have now, because that's the cheapest.

Not so fast again MPLS.....

Paris went on to say that not only is the lack of a rubber or sand base one of a kind, but that this type of turf has never been installed indoors on an automatic roller system, which the Superior Dome uses. A giant bar automatically rolls the football field in and out depending on what other events need the space at the Dome. Representatives from Play Safe Turf and Track say the roller system can roll up the field in under a half hour.

Weird that this was posted today. I was listening to the local sports radio station here in Loveland and the host said NDSU was the worst playing surface he ever played on. He played in college and pro.

I wouldn't be surprised. The stuff we had Dacotah field was painted concrete(at times frozen as well), the original turf we first put in the dome was used and on top of that was zippered together(nasty seams). It was also painted concrete. The current stuff is slightly softer than painted concrete but it will still tear you apart.

Even worse.

In order to use the Magic Carpet system, that means you can not have any infill in the turf.

Don't you think there's a reason that all of those installation in big stadiums have infill? Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, NE Patriots, etc. Notice how the rubber "flys out".

It's designed that way for a reason.

Without the in-fill, yeah the longer blades might be softer than the current razor blade surface, but the cleats have nothing to grab onto. There will be no traction and it will be one of the slowest surfaces in the country.

You also have to consider that with the entire turf on one giant roll that the enormous weight will compress the longer fibers down.

So they are going to have to "rough up" the fibers every time they unroll it.

How much is that going to cost in equipment and labor?

I don't buy it.

Get the turf the rolls up in sections like UNI's new turf.
