I know they're in control of this game, and I hate to find fault, but having two first and goal situations inside the 10 in the 3rd and not being able to punch it in against the worst run defense in the CAA isn't good. They had a second down at the one on one of them, and lost yardage on 2 consecutive plays. They have to improve things in this area or it will come back to haunt them against a quality opponent.

I agree. Even though UNH has a lot of yards on the ground today, Northeastern is terrible against the run.

Is Kackert & Jellison enough talent in the backfield to win a Championship?

I'm not sure even though this is a very good team in all three phases of the game.

We'll see.

It wasn't raining and yes the crowd there was terrible you would think that the team was 1and7 not 7and 1 and one of the top fcs teams in the country. Student support for this team is pitifull if it wasn't for the silver tops in attendance the place would be empty. plus students get in free I could understand if they had to pay the $18 I pay for a general admission., but they get in for nothing, come on students get to the game bad opponent or not lets get some support and get this team a home playoff game. and one other thing to note that the Cats get no respect, their win was the very last item on WMUR ( the states only news station) 6:00pm sports report with the sports anchor adding that the cats won today when he was handing it back to the anchor woman. no highlites nothing, just terrible

I'm not bringing that up to be a jerk, by the way. You guys were averaging almost 10,000 attendance coming into this game. I thought you had some momentum. Even Rhode Island had a crowd of over 5100 today, and their game started only an hour later. I thought maybe there was a hockey game conflict or something, but I checked the site and there wasn't.

Wow....No support in the state for UNH football. Who knew?

I don't know what it would take to turn that around, but doing something about the facilities probably wouldn't hurt. I was there 1966-1970 and the facilities were pitiful then. 40 years later they are the same pitiful facilities, except a lot older like me.xlolx

It was a disappointing crowd. You certainly can't blame the weather, which was actually fantastic. I guess I'll chalk it up to being Halloween weekend - I actually seem to recall a similar turnout last year, though I could be wrong about that.

Hopefully we can get closer to 8000 for URI next weekend...though I'm sure TV coverage won't help.

That definitely is another concern. His accuracy has been mediocre at best and that was a problem again yesterday.I'd love to see what Decker could do against a good team playing an entire game.He did have that TD pass against Northeastern.

I'm more worried about Toman's Comp/Att of 11/22

And two of the eleven completions were great catches by the receivers - Sicko's leaping, one-handed catch as he was falling out of bounds and J.T. Wrights leaping catch. To give Toman his due, at least two of the of the incompletions probably should have caught, one by Mason and one to Wright in the back of the end zone.

What I don't understand is why do you put Toman back in the game after he twisted his ankle when you have such a big lead and you have Decker on the bench?

Courtesy of wsbe over on the UNH message board...could not have said it better myself. Love the percentages and numbers you threw in. The most alarming statistic is the 14 ints and 9 touchdowns.

As for the offense & specifically Toman. Kackert was impressive & seemed to run very physical. Not sure if a weaker NU team was the cause. Jellison added another break away too. JT Wright was all taped up around the ankles, seems like he strugles with injuries but I like him...he's big physical, good hands. I thought the play calling was better. I don't think there is much they're missing....they mixed it up a little & threw in some trick plays. Their committment to the run should & will pay off. Sicko is one of the most dominant players I've seen at this level. I really think the mediocre offensive play steps from some rough OLine play but more so Toman inability to make things happen. I'm sorry, but he was extremly unimpressive Saturday against another weaker opponent. 11 for 22. This brings his 8 game rolling average going back to SIU last year to 127-235 (54%), 14 INT, 9TD. Thats almost a full season. How bout just this year? what about only weaker opponents St.Francis, Hofstra, NU? all pretty consistently bad...50-54% completion %. Not a lot of mobility, some real bad decisions, & terribly inaccurate. I will say that NU was sending some serious pressure & giving the O many different looks....I actually thought the blocking was worse Saturday than previous weeks...but it is clear to me that if Toman has to make a play under pressure, he doesn't make it. He misses his receivers by a lot. Sicko & others are making spectacular catches, in part because the balls are poorly thrown. He's thrown very few nice long balls. Conversely (again), I thought Decker added a spark to the offense. Sure he was 1-3 but one of his incompletions was on the hands of Mason across the middle & badly dropped....his other was in the corner of the endzone on a in-0ut route that I thought Chandler developed a little slow - it could have been pretty. His TD pass to Mangieri was the type of play that wins games. I'm telling you, Decker is in demand, he has confidence, he makes the receivers pop, you can see it, you can feel it. I guess I'm seeing something totally different than the Staff but "you are what you are" - & it is hard to argue that Toman is anything better than average right now....& average won't get this team anywhere in the playoffs. I'll say again, I hope I'm wrong & I hope Toman breaksout against W&M & plays well enough to win in the playoffs...because it's probably too late to hope for anything else.

Random thought: Did anyone else notice how fast back-up linebacker James Jenkins is?

I've been noticing his play for awhile now. IIRC, he had a huge sack in the 4th Qtr out at Ball State! They list him as a LB but he often lines up at DE. Size wise it seems that LB is his position. I think we're going to see a lot of James Jenkins next year with the graduation of Ware and Ruhl. xtwocentsx
