Sorry if this is old news, but I can't find it any where. What will the playoff bracket look like next year with 20 teams?

Four "play-in" games and 12 teams with Thanksgiving weekend off.

Unless of course the PFL request is granted.

How would that affect the shape of the brackets? Or is there a PFL request I am not aware of?

The PFL has requested an AQ, which would add 2 more teams to the brackets for a total of 22.

I worked it out before but I cannot remember how this would effect the brackets. I believe you would have more teams playing in the opening round and less byes.

Are the play-in game winners automatically going to the seeds?

Then it would be 6 play in games (12 teams) and 10 teams with a Bye

Are they planning on seeding 12 (or 10) teams next year?

Good question. I wouldn venture to guess that the top 4 seeds would be playing those play-in winners.

You would have 10 byes and 6 play-in games in that scenario

Way too large.

The SportingNews season preview said they are planning on seeding 8 teams next year.

I can see how that would work:

Seed the top 8. They get home games in the second week.
Put the bottom 8 (de facto seeding) in the opening round.

The middle 4 get a bye and play away in the second week.

Takes the bidding process out of the 2nd week.xthumbsupx
