I hate to say it, but with the lone exception of App State being a little too high at #9, this week the FCS coach's poll is the superior ranking.

For all you Mountaineers, I think you will do fine and maybe go deep into the playoffs. All I am saying is that #9 is too high for accomplishments to date.

If your coach knows more about teams not on his schedule than I do, then you're team is in trouble. xnodx

If the coach from your school only knows about the teams on his schedule and doesn't send scouts or have his assistances "read up" on the other FCS teams that are performing well in the country - and keep him abreast of that information, it may mean he doesn't have plans on participating in the playoffs... xsmiley_wix

If everything else was the same, but the Bulldogs were 15th, would it still be the best one?

Of the 28 coaches voting there are about 5 with realistic playoff opportunity this year.

23 that have no interest in anything but the next 4 weeks.

Yep, I believe the Coaches have a "better bead" on football then anygivensaturday's fan pollsters... Unless that fan played collegiate football and at least was and assistance coach at the collegiate level...

In other words, this has nothing to do with SCSU, this is about the experts of a given field and them having more knowledge than "arm chair" coaches....

When my car needs an engine overhauled, I take it to the Honda Auto Mechanic, I don't take it to my church buddy that reads about cars daily and uses Chilton's Guides for auto repairs...

When I bought my home I got the assistance of a real estate professional, not one of my friends that read books and study info on real estate investing or home buying - I go with the trained & experienced expert... xwhistlex

That's irrelevant to whether or not coaches have more football knowledge and can be more objective in there voting in a poll than fans... xpeacex

For polls, the coaches usually suck just as much as the average fan if not worse. Past experience, once you were ranked, it was hard to drop out because the coaches only heard about 30 or so teams during the year. Every other poll had Youngstown St. out fast last year but the coaches kept them in for a bit. My opinion was just for this week as this is the poll I follow the least due to its consistent inaccuracies.

Please elaborate... All of my quotes are here, feel free to use my "entire quotes" NOT portions that would take what I said out of context, and dismantle my supposed argument...
Go ahead, I'll wait... xwhistlex

This is what has transpired:

1) I stated my "10/26/2009 FCS Coaches Poll - My Favorite in my original post title...

2) ToTheLeft of Liberty ask whether I would feel different, if SCSU was ranked lower?

If everything else was the same, but the Bulldogs were 15th, would it still be the best one?

3) I answer no, then gave MY reasons why...

5) You have a difference of opinion, so now my opinion has been invalidated by your deference to mine - I think not!!! xnonox

I stand by my post, and opinions - The Coach's football knowledge and ability to evaluate teams exceeds yours, mine and AGS posters, unless some of you are collegiate coaches and/or were in the past... xsmhx

I don't get your point... calling my position invalid because you see it differently, doesn't make my position wrong, it merely means you have a difference of opinion nothing more... xcoffeex

More times than not the coaches don't even do the poll themselves. It might be a University's SID or even the programs Director of Football Operations.

Was it too logical of a response.

Or is my suspicion about Iceamanasdf's previous identities confirmed?
