The easiest week of the year. Pretty much the top 4 vs. the bottom 4.

Princeton at Harvard Harvard is good. Princeton is not.

Brown at Cornell Brown is good. Cornell is not.

Columbia at Dartmouth Columbia is good. Dartmouth is not.

Yale at Penn Penn is good. Yale is not.

Yale at Penn Penn is good. Yale is not.

What do you mean, Yale is not. We beat Georgetown, Dartmouth, and Lehigh who have combined for .......one win

OH.............nevermind. :p

I hope Yale pulls it out against the Quackers, but I see them on the short end of a 10-7 or 13-10 score.xpeacex

That's more or less what you said last week, but the Tigers were declawed by the Bears. On the basis of no more than a gut bad feeling and an attendant attack of gas, I've picked your Kitties to beat the Crimson this week, but I hope I'm wrong!xcoolx

Don't worry, you are. Do you even remember the last time Harvard lost two consecutive games? I don't.

The most dangerous tiger is one that has been injured. Princeton roars this week.

Princeton has had its share of upsets of the Cantabs at Soldiers Field over the years. I remember when a mediocre Casciola unit beat one of Restic's better squads up there in '75, 24-20. That wacky 11-6 game in '85, when Tom Urquhart's punt return sealed a Tiger win, is another one that comes to mind.

But the Crimson have owned the Tigers in this century, excepting a narrow loss at Princeton in '06.xnodx

Do you even remember the last time Harvard lost two consecutive games? I don't.

That would be Nov 11 and Nov 18, 2006, a 22-13 loss to Penn and a 34-13 loss, at home (that I had to watch) to that school in Connecticut.

Also the last time (until last weekend) that Harvard was defeated at home.

Harvard also had 2-game losing streaks in 2005 and 2003. So it's not unheard-of.

But I'd like to think we'll beat Princeton this time. We beat them 9 times in a row 1995-2004 & we're only 2 years into the current streak, so we should have 7 more lives to go.

Also winners this week:
Brown
Penn
Columbia

Just in case you wanted to know; the Princeton-Harvard rivalry is the second oldest in Princeton history and seventh oldest in Ivy League history. This will be the 102nd game between the two schools, with Princeton holding a 52-42-7 advantage.

Abare out. This really hurts.

http://portal31nhr.blogspot.com/

The biggest news coming out of Wednesday's practice came from who was not on the field.

Senior safety Larry Abare, who leads the Bulldogs with 30 tackles, had his right arm in a sling. Abare suffered two broken bones in his right arm. Although no surgery will be needed, Abare said "I am going to keep looking at the x-rays but it probably looks not good for the season right now. I am still hoping I will be able to make the Harvard game."

Tough break. Abare is a good one. Christo was a fast little guy. He took a punt return to the house against H in '07.

I never saw it.

By then I had already drunk enough beer to put that disaster out of my mind. xoopsx

This weeks point spreads. Hard to believe Yale-Penn is considered a tossup.

Harvard -12 over Princeton
Penn even over Yale
Brown -12 1/2 over Cornell
Columbia -9 over Dartmouth

Dartmouth 28, Columbia 6. Final. Not great weather. Dartmouth scored the first two times it had the ball.

Dartmouth ran the ball well. 231 yards for Sweiger, a sophomore, breaking Dartmouth's all-time record.

First win for Dartmouth since early Nov. 2007.

Yippee.

Regrettably, after today, I think Princeton is looking hard at 1-9 on the season, worst (and first time winless in the Ivy League) since '73.

Congrats to Dartmouth. Except for the game against Yale, and I can't imagine why, they have played fairly well this year.

Penn 9 Yale 0 - Final

Two straight games without a score for Yale's offense. They did miss 3 FG attempts, but two of them were pretty long.

Yale has not allowed a TD on defense for 2 straight games. The only TD in todays game was a Penn pick 6

A bad offense is one thing. An offense that gives away TD's is another. A pick 6 cost them the game against Cornell and put the game out of reach today.

What is the old saying "First, do no harm."

All that being said, Yale had some really bad penalties today, also, in crucial situations. Shows a lack of discipline.........or crummy refs.

We gotr the cable feed down here. The announcers liked the way Witt threw the ball in inclement weather, but Mante had a terrible day. Penn's O was nothing to write home about, either.

Yale has scored more than 14 points in only 3 of their last 12 games. (10,7,27,13,14,0,31,12,14,38,7,0)

Kudos to the defense since they've won half of those 12 games.

Yale has held Penn to 9 points each of last two years......and lost both.
