dont think close. We have possibly the worst def. of all-time at NDSU right now. We can run the ball and pass it a little bit...but on D you can pass all morning, noon, and night.

I'm hoping we keep it close..but I would guess 40-10 type score. Now if your coach wants to rub it in it might be more???

If UNI strikes first and gets up by 2+ scores early, the crowd will be silenced and I predict a UNI bloodbath. If the Panthers allow the Bison to hang around, the crowd will stay in it and keep the score close.

The key, IMHO, is the fans. If UNI breaks their back early (which, considering NDSU's season to date, isn't hard) this game could get really ugly for the Bison.

Without much semblance of passing game we can focus on stopping Paschall (and run defense is our strength), and NDSU will struggle to score.

And if NDSUs defense (especially pass defense) is as bad as their fans are saying we could put up 35 easily (probably more).

But I am not sold on people saying they are as bad as they are. They have been inconsistent, but played SIU tough. It is at home in front of a sold out crowd I think NDSU will show up and will be no pushover (despite my prediction). UNI has SIU looming and I think we could get trapped, just like a I believe NDSU did against Illinois State. I think they may have been looking past that game to this game just like most of the fans were.

NDSU's offense scored once against SIU, and gave up four sacks to an injured pass rush. I don't see them doing any better against UNI even if Mertens can back the safties off. PP is a good back but SIU closed him down in the second half. No reason to think UNI won't lower his ypg. avg. significantly.

No doubt that losing the homecoming game to IL St really was a sour loss...I know the guys are going to be pissed off and damnit it's still a home game. NDSU just don't lose too many home games.




I have much more confidence that the score will be close than I do about attendance. Hunting, an average or worse record and an opponent that non-die hard NDSU fans aren't that familiar with yet (every MVFC team other than SDSU) and you get an attendance less than a sell-out for sure, likely between 16-16.5k.

When watching IL St' QB carve up the NDSU secondary, I was wondering what was going on on the NDSU side. Lack of skill, speed, coaching adjustments, or was the QB simply have 1 1/2 quarters in the zone? Only so much you can see on a 4" x 4" internet feed.

I think that everyone believes that UNI will score (lots) of points against the NDSU defense. The question is on the other side, what will NDSU due against the UNI DEF? I would be surprised if the coaches don't key on stopping Paschall and the run, asking Mertens to beat them with the pass. In fact, until shown otherwise, why would any coaching staff not do that?

I watched NDSU against Illinois State. The Bison D is really bad. Really, really bad. They looked confused, showed no fire, and couldn't beat a block against a team that we handled pretty easily.

Mertens is a good runner, but his passing is very spotty. He threw a few great passes, but also threw four of the worst passes I've seen in a while against ISU. Paschal is an outstanding back, but they don't give him the ball enough.

So I'd say your score is about right, UNIFan.

Another of those things is that make go hmmmm is that while he racked up 150 yds on SIU, a worthy achievement to be sure, his long was 14 yds., which to me indicates that he ran where the blocking took him. He'll get a tryout but is he fast enough to play special teams at the next level?

Take away Preston Evans and the DTs and you're looking at maybe the worst defense in the nation.

We are a full scholarship, top 10 attendance FCS program. Our athletes are guaranteed to be at least middle of the pack in FCS, every year, by virtue of that alone.

I don't like to guess scores, but all I know is UNI has traditionally and this year no exception had a top notch run defense. This year the question was the secondary, who has performed phenomally thus far. I think with UNI's base defense they will all but shut down the NDSU run game and as admitted by NDSU fans earlier their pass game is suspect added to UNI's so far so good pass D.
Best chance is to try to run sweeps, but then UNI will make corrections as good teams do.
It will be fun to see how things work out.

That's what happen when your team goes from10-1 to 1-6 in two years. No offense to the Missouri Valley but conference has little to do with the difference. We've already seen direct evidence between the 2007 and 2009 Bison by their respective performances against ISU red. Western Illinois will be another case study.

I'm just being a realist, this year's NDSU team is not good PERIOD. Like I've said before, they will be contenders in this conference but not this year.
