My inclination is never to look at Game 1 win in the mouth, and I won't do that here.

Plenty to be excited about if you're a Colgate fan
-Greg Sullivan was the player of the game. Yes, Eachus had more yards, but Sullivan controlled the game expertly and made just about every play demanded of him. This is his team
-The defense played well in the 2nd half, especially the D-Line. After last season, seeing the strong 2nd half performance, especially getting pressure on the QBs, was nice to see

Some things that concern me
-Kick coverage was pretty awful. They played around it with the pooch kicks in the 2nd half, but I can't believe that will work too long. Too many drives for the Hawks started at midfield
-Injuries. Schreifer is a big loss by himself, and knee injuries are always tough to figure. And then, of course, Eachus. Almost like he just pulled up with something after his last TD run. Was clutching his ribs. Hopefully it's nothing serious, and the hospital trip was merely precautionary. We probably won't know on either player more until next weekend when we see if they dress or not

All in all, very few complaints when you start a season 1-0 :)

Gate, your defense improved some, but Monmouth screwed up royally. They dropped a long pass (may or may not have been 6) on the 2nd play of the half. Then, after giving up Colgate's 1st td, Monmouth fails to catch a pop up kickoff, which Colgate subsequently recovered. Driving while down only 28-16, we fumble in the red zone (or just outside of it). Monmouth did everything to lose that game and hats off to Colgate for capitalizing on the Monmouth miscues.
