I've had a pretty good history here predicting the CAA games. :)

Well I hope your are spot on because I am looking forward to seeing a big blowout to start the year...two games after that one we play Dartmouth...that should also be a blowout!!

The way I see it:

villanova 28 Temple 24: Temple will keep this close as nova doesn't have the passing game to really separate themselves from the Owls, but Temple's green QB will find the going too tough for Temple to prevail.

St. Cloud State 3 Maine 56 : Who knew that there's a cloud out there somewhere that's acheived sainthood? Won't help here, as Maine would find an intrasquad scrimmage more demanding.

West Chester 14 Delaware 48 : Comment holds the same here regarding intrasquad scrimmage. Although this rivalry was competitive 15-25 years ago, it's no longer that. T-minus 2 or 3 years before this series is over forever.

Towson 7 Northwestern 42 : The long, tough trek that is 2009 begins for Towson. The first of what will be many, many losses.

St. Francis 7 New Hampshire 56: No need to comment.

Fordham 21 Rhode Island 20: A close game between teams with the same mascot, and I see the weak sister of the CAA North losing here.

Northeastern 14 Boston College 31: Actually a closer game here than could be expected - just not impressed with Boston College right now.

Richmond 14 Duke 28: Without the RB and the bookend DE's, I see Duke being able to keep Richmond's offense in check en route to a relatively easy win.

William and Mary 17 Virginia 28: I think the Tribe could put up a decent fight here, with the Cavs pulling away late.

Stony Brook 14 Hofstra 35: Battle of the Island goes to the Pride in this one - just more talented.

UMass 7 Kansas St 56: I just don't see a good year for the Minutemen, and they get blitzed out of the Little Apple in this game, the first of the post-Coen era.

Yes. Six at this general level of competition, though it was called a variety of things at the time: FCS, I-AA, D-II, small college, etc.

How many of those are just first place finishes in polls with no championship game?

4 of the national titles came back when there wasn't a playoff system. Playoffs didn't come into existence until I think 1974 (or thereabouts). Hens have won 2 titles in playoff systems since then (and the 4 runner-up appearances as well).

Aren't you suppose to wait till the week before to do that week's picks xconfusedx Still a week and a half out. I'm not going to do anything as ridiculous as trying to predict scores, but I agree with all your winners except Temple will beat Nova.

Be careful Delaware... as a West Chester resident - WC has a very good team this year. I dont predict an upset - but I would not be surprised by a closer than expected game.

Rumor has it that WC has a good line and some talent at the skill positions, but not enough to pose a threat to the Hens D. 17 points maybe...and that includes points against the subs.

On D, you are supposed to be better than DSU, especially on the line, but that isn't exactly a compliment. The Hens rang up 48 on WCU last year without a serviceable QB. Devlin will carve up the Rams even if we go vanilla (and I hope we do so UR won't have any film on us).

Sure, it might not be a 50 point win, but WC should not pose a problem for the Hens.

Agree with Cluck here. I've watched West Chester football (both parents are alums as well as my sister) for decades now. While West Chester is a fine team this year and will likely win a few playoff games, the series is no longer competitive and the gap between UD and West Chester has never been greater. I agree that West Chester would be a healthy favorite against Delaware St, but this game's not really going to be closer than 30 points.

And yet it's funny how many people chatized UD for playing WCUPA instead of DSU from a competitive standpoint. :p

We all left out one very important week one prediction....

I predict that JMU will remain undefeated after week one is complete!

No seriously though... not that polls matter, but its likely that we could move up if any of the FCS teams above us get destroyed in a week one FBS game. Not saying it matters, not saying it is warranted.... just saying its possible.

I'll be happy if our offense breaks into double-digits against Kansas State and we hold them below 50. Got a bad feeling about about our new coach and the vibe around the team, but a blowout at KSU isn't going to prove anything.

Wow, what gives?

A lot of UMass fans don't like Coach Morris. I don't really understand itxeyebrowx. I am ready to give him a chance and see what he can do.

If we miss the playoffs the next 3 years then I will start changing my mind.

I was saying Nova would win 27-24 OVER TEMPLE. Jeez. You people are clueless. xnonono2x :p

Of course, Maine made us all look like candidates for the short bus, but that's a push.

xthumbsupx for BC-Northeastern? You were 22 points off xeyebrowx So what is the criteria for you to give yourself a thumbs up. Pick the winner within about 3 TDs of the actual point differential?
