Can anyone tell me what, if any, schools are new to FCS? Also, who might have left? As far as I know, I believe Iona ended its program. Thanks.

This list only includes completely new programs. Someone help me if I miss any as this list does not include those transitioning, since they are not "new" to FCS.

This year...

Old Dominion

In 2010...

Lamar
South Alabama (playing an exhibition schedule in 2009)

In 2011...

UTSA

JSU02

Good catch...

Worth noting that Lamar, Ga State and USA are all set to play each other in '10 and '11. UTSA is set to play South Alabama in '11 and '12. If my memory serves me...there's something on FCS News Feeds about it.

Didn't UTSA hire some past FBS coach to build their program or am I just going crazy? I thought I heard them hire or looking to hire some sort of big name maybe 6-months or a year back.

South Alabama is in the Sun Belt so they'll go FBS in 2012 after 2 years as a FCS independent. Lamar is joining the SLC in 2011 and they haven't publicly mentioned going FBS. Lamar president Dr. Simmons said last year they could easily expand the stadium to seat 36,000 if they decide to go FBS in the future, but said it probably won't happen while he's around.

I hope some FCS teams get to beat on South Alabama while they're here. Domination on them by FCS teams will really give the whole sub division something to smile about.

The recruits they have so far, beating them will be a really easy possibility for a good FCS team.

It's UTSA (University of Texas-San Antonio).

And who are the next private schools to join I-AA?
