Blayde Becksted
Junior from Wellington, CO
Position: RB
Number: 33
Height: 5-10 Weight: 195

Montana State -- (2009) A special teams standout who played in eight games, hampered by injury early in the season Starts 2009 vying for playing time with C.J. Palmer and Ricky Evans

From Chronicle reporter Will Holden

Blayde Becksted, Grade B, Becksted was the best running back of the spring in my eyes. I think I wanted to say that back was C.J. Palmer because I think he has more ability, but when I was thinking of Palmer’s accomplishments this spring, I couldn’t think of anything he did that Becksted didn’t also accomplish. Like Palmer, Becksted isn’t easy to take down with his low center of gravity. Also like Palmer, he busted a long touchdown run this spring. And unlike Palmer, he also showed the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. That will keep him in the mix this season.

(2008) A productive spring vaults him to third on the depth chart at running back entering the season… stands as a solid special teams contributor. (2007) Suffered an injury that held him out of the season’s first eight games… played in two of the final three on special teams… recorded one tackle. (2006) Redshirted. Poudre -- Rushed for 1,983 yards and 27 touchdowns as a senior at Poudre High School in Fort Collins… earned all-city honors three times, helping his team to a conference title in 2006… earned conference offensive MVP honors, setting single-season school rushing and touchdown records… earned team offensive MVP honors, as well, and served as a team captain. Academics -- Enrolled in business. Personal -- Born Blayde Duncan Becksted on May 21, 1988 in Fort Collins, CO… grew up on a farm… one of three children of Jill and Beck Becksted… belonged to Poudre High’s Student Ambassador organization.
