I don't get Missouri State. Our Marketing Department in the School of Business wins nationally ranked competitions all the time yet our school's marketing sucks.

In many states, public universities are prohibited from using their academic departments to do things for free that the school could contract with an outside firm for, so it's possible the School of Business' Marketing Department would love to do marketing for the university but they simply can't, since it would be "unfair competition". A great example of this is schools with great architecture programs often can't use their students and faculty to design new campus buildings, but must pay much more for off campus architects to come in and do it.
