I think it's ok, but for some reason, I am not a big fan of the "school name on the helmet" idea. In many cases schools pull it off, but in this one it doesn't fit very well. Still, I like their color scheme, a la Boise St.-ish.

That does look a lot like the Ravens logo. I wonder which came first?

Eh, looks like a very similar design all the way around to the Liberty helmet:

Glad to see some of you posted on the link in the original thread. I encourage some of you to frequent that link and post - as the more responses to the Chronicle Area Colleges blog (which covers TSU, PV, SFA, SHSU and Lamar) will only lead to more attention on these programs from the Houston newspaper. :)

From Wikipedia:

Although commonly quoted as "meep meep", Warner Brothers, the current owner of all trademarks relating to the duo, lists "beep, beep" as the Road Runner's sound.

I agree completely... I think it would have been better without the school name.

And why don't they try and go simply as San Antonio? Is that not permitted by the university system? Similar to what Charlotte does.

All schools in the UT system include UT.

UTSA has not tried breaking away from the name as much as UT-Arlington, who has put a big emphasis on Arlington and wanting to be called "UT-Arlington" instead of UTA.

The only schools in a system outside of the Texas State University System, where each school has separate names, is Texas A&M University System where Prairie View A&M and Tarleton State exist. Now that I think about, Angelo State, under the Texas Tech system - formerly of the TSUS - is not known as "Texas Tech - San Angelo".

This is probably because UTSA started as a UT System campus where as UT-Arlington started as an independent institution. They were a member of the A&M system until the 1960s when they decided to jump ship to the UT system.

The UT system requires that Orange be one of your colors, yet they didn't really enforce it with UTA (whose colors were Blue, Red, and white) until a few years ago.

Don't like it. The wordmarks are way too small to read from the stands, and if they're on TV, you're going to be trying too hard to read it. Might as well have just focused on the logo, size it up appropriately and be done with it. It's too busy for a helmet.

Yes needs work to busy take the words out, or maybe just take all of it off and have it all blue.
