This guy is a well-liked individual - he is the one that brought about football in Mobile, Ala.

If the school is interested, he surely positioned them well with all the upgrades (Mitchell Center, Stanky Field) to go to C-USA.

Let the interviews begin...

Southeastern Louisiana University's Joel Erdmann will be the first candidate to interview on-campus for the University of South Alabama's director of athletics position.

Erdmann, the athletic director at Southeastern Louisiana since 2007, will be in Mobile today and Thursday to meet with officials about replacing USA athletic director Joe Gottfried. Gottfried announced last month that he would retire Aug. 1.

"There were approximately 50 applications for the position and we've narrowed it down to a few that we want to interview on campus," said John Smith, USA's vice president for student affairs and faculty athletics representative, who is chairing the search committee.
