Grambling gets conditional NCAA certification

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — NEW ORLEANS (AP) ? Grambling State is one of two universities where the NCAA says the athletics program has problems.

The organization gave the athletics programs at Grambling State and Howard University conditional certification on Wednesday. At the same time, it gave full certification to 35 other schools, including Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi.

An NCAA news release says conditional certification indicates that the school is largely following Division I rules, but has problems serious enough to withhold full certification until they are corrected.

That article is far from specific and of course, the NCAA says that it will not share the issue(s). I'm wondering if Nick Deriso can turn up something on the subject matter.
