EWU moved the game to Seattle's Qwest Field to appeal to 11,000 Eagle alums in Puget Sound area.

That's strange, considering they have a hard enough time filling their smallish stadium as it is. I could see that maybe when Erik Meyer was still around and EWU was good, but next year amidst all the controversy? Kinda weird.

I agree, WSU plays a game at Qwest every year (and we have a much larger fan base over on the westside than EWU does) and the stadium looks dreadfully empty every season.

The fact of the matter is EWU has some 11,000 alumni in the Seattle area and with Portland just 3 hours away it makes for a decent turnout for the game. I think that this game could draw around 11-12,000 which would be better than the 6-7,000 the game would draw in Cheney. Makes sense to me.

From that sense, yes.

But how much does it cost to rent Qwest field?

Really makes no sense to EWU in my opinion. Seattle is closer to Portland than Cheney and Seattle really is easier to get to from Portland than over Snoq (the Chehalis floods usually happen in January as compared to avalanches starting in early November in the Cascades). I admit I like this better as I don't have to worry about the weather as much (bigger worry will be traffic).

Looking at making a few road games this year (Oregon State, this one and maybe Montana if I'm lucky).

It was reported that 50,830 fans were at the WSU / OSU game last August at Qwest. Even 11,000 to 12,000 will seem sparse even if they just use the lower bowl. Nonetheless, it will be good to see some FCS football in Seattle.
