Mike Probst jr the JV qb very little experience, big and strong ,strong arm but pretty immobile. Against LC s D ,if Threatt out ,LC has big edge in the 2nd half. Doesn't bode well for either team for playoffs with qbs out.

Folks- I have been a lurker for a long time here and never posted. I just have to say that after this terrible loss, I really am convinced that Lembo is the most overrated coach in football. I know he has a great record and that Lehigh wins 8+ games every year. Yet in the big, elimination-type games, it never ceases to amaze how terrible his gameplan is, and his clock management skills are atrocious.

Nods to Lafayette for hanging in there and winning on a broken play, but I put much blame on Lembo. They did an awful job of eating the clock when they had the ball with a 2-point lead late in the game.

Would it kill him to come out in a real running formation and pound the ball? What is it with this constant love for the Shotgun? Lehigh never established any running game and became one-dimensional. Threatt may turn out to be a decent QB, but he needs to learn to sit in the pocket and let his receivers run their routes. He is too quick to run, and he looked SLOW today.

Anyway, I know many of you will tell me I am nuts, but I needed to vent. When I'm in a more level state of mind, I'll come back and revisit this.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if the PL gets 2 this year with Colgate & Lafeyette.

Richmond has one loss since Tutt has became QB and that was to I-A Vandy. The committee will look at that and make the easy choice... plus there is no way the A10 will not get 2 teams in... Richmond will travel to Hampton in round 1.

I cant see the Pat league getting three... one of the three will be sitting home. Which one... Im not sure... could be Lehigh due to their loss vs Laf today.

OK.

I think this Raider team has the potential to win a game or so in these playoffs, even if it is at UNH. If we play our type of game and not a shootout like we did against Lehigh, I like our chances. UNH doesn't have a stellar defense.

But first, we have to get the game. I can see Lafayette getting at-large and getting sent to UNH. Colgate off to... App. St.?

I don't think you can score enough (35+) to beat UNH... but it looks like you'll probably get your chance.

If the right Colgate offense shows up, we can beat them.

Well, I'm back from our 1973 Lambert Cup Team Dinner. Needless to say the mood wasn't as festive as we had hoped. Neither LU or LC played their 'A' games today. Toooooo many mistakes by both teams. The LC td on 4th and 10 was almost like deja vu with the Holy Cross game-you didn't really believe what you were seeing. Blown assignment by soph. corner letting the tb out of the backfield and gettng behind him. Hopefully he won't be scarred from this, but...there are a lot of shaking heads. It was a pretty even match, physically and statistically. LU probably second guessing themselves on calling the time out to 'freeze' the kicker who was lining up for a 55 yarder. LC then changed their mind and threw the hail mary--DT Cooney was hitting Davis' shoulders as he let it fly--fractions of a second it''s a sack.
Congrats to LC--they didn't give up when the momentum had swung over to Lehigh when LU went up 19-10. Threatt had an 'okay' game--he'll be a good one, but missed some wide open receivers today. We couldn't run the ball effectively, which was critical in the last 4 minutes.
As I said on the other thread, it would come down to executing. Both teams were put by their coaches into positions to win the game. Both teams executed poorly at times and Lehigh's miscues resulted in direct points--the final hail mary, and the earlier blocked punt that lead to LC's first TD, which was due to a bad snap from center..
Unless some sort of miracle occurs due to other games, LU is done for the season. I said at the beginning of the year, I expected anywhere from a 8-3 to 10-1 season. LU was 3 stinking plays from 11-0 (Delaware missed kick, Holy Cross immaculate reception, and LC's hail mary). This was a season of lost opportunities. Hopefully the underclassmen learned something this year that you have to be focused for 60 minutes of every game, 'cause one play can break you...
I'll listen in tomorrow for the selection show, but without the same enthusiasm. I'm making reservations for Crapsville--"Hey, Hen, get me a nice table near the stage..."

As that great American, Jerry Seinfeld, once said, "That's a shame". But at least Lembo runs a class operation, which is probably better than winning Lambert Cups anyway

Geez. I think I take a different take from all he other folks on here. I'm not mad at Lembo, mad at Sedale, or the soph who got burned for the TD. I'm just devastated in general. We should have won the game. We weren't outcoached. We weren't overwhelmed wih a team with superior talent. We lost on a busted play. No amount of coaching could have changed that. And two of our losses this year were on busted plays. Bounces. That's football.

Sedale's hail mary, from my vantagepoint on the field, looked like it hit the ground and was not intercepted - IMO that was a bad call.

Other than that, I don't know what to say. I'm still not sure what to say in my I-AA diary. Personally I'm just devastated.

Hopefully something with a little more thought than Sedale's hail mary hit the ground and was a bad call. Wow, that was obviously the turning point in the game.
Let me give you some thoughts to ponder for your diary.
Why only rush 4 and not blitz Lafayette during the last drive?
How do you allow anyone to get behind you on a deep ball on 4th and 10?
Why call a timeout when LC is lining up to try a 55 yard field goal? Maybe to let Tavani realize the error of his ways?
Why do you not continue to throw the 4-7 yard outs on your 2nd last drive that LC couldn't stop?
Why do you continue to run 5'-9" Rath and 5'8" Thompson up the middle rather than wide?
Why wait til game 11 to replace Musiek on FGs and PATs?
Why a team with a suspect pass defense tried to sit on leads against HC and LC rather than remain aggessive?
How about explaining why Lembo, who has lost 3 of 4 to LC, is doing a great job?
Nevermind - I'd rather read about how that bad call on the hail mary to the 35 yard line completely turned the season around.

I agree LFN. Football is a game of strange bounces at times, and as this year, we didn't get too many go our way. That's the way it goes sometimes. In every game the players were in position to win, and just came up short on three plays. Horribly disappointing. Time to focus on wrestling....

You have got to be trying to incite a riot or your oozing sarcasm or your Pete Lembo trying to save your job 'cause you can't be serious. In any case, LU will be home eating turkey.

hawkineer you seem to harbor a great dislike of Pete Limbo.
Any personal history with him?

I believe your dislike of Lembo is the reason why you don't want LU to get in.
Why do you have such a hatred for the man?

I posted before the game that I liked Lafayette to win outright.

I am posting now that I believe Lehigh is a good enough team to belong in the playoffs. No sarcasm in that.

Because I have a deep passion for this program and have for over almost 30 years. I have followed this team everywhere for the last 15 years.

Hatred is probably too strong. Contempt, despise, scorn, disdain, maybe. He was handed a up and coming national program on a silver platter from Higgins and in 4 short years has won 1 league title, has had 1 playoff appearance and is 1-3 against LC (I discount 2001 since that was still Higgins team).

I watched his team blow a 14 point lead in Delaware, a 10 point lead in a monsoon against HC, and a 9 point lead today. This year and in the past, he has not been able to win the "big game".

No one wanted to be sitting at a playoff game more than me. However, objectively no PL deserves an at-large bid this year. I said this earlier in the week whether it was going to be LU, LC, or CU.

Bounces do go in many ways but increased expectations bring greater disappointment. no It is not all Lembo's fault or the DB for missing his coverage or the OC for shutting down the O in the 4th period. BUT I am so tired of ALMOST or but we only lost to "fill in the blank" by 1 point. Yesterday I was devastated by another almost. 3 times this year we came into the 4th period with leads and couldn't win.
