View Full Version : Could San Diego remain non-schollie and join Great West?

I was wondering if USD could continue to fund and recruit in their current Pioneer League model, but join an otherwise scholarship conference like the Great West. If they are allowed to, there are plenty of reasons to do it.

1. Easier access to playoffs
2. (somewhat) Reduced travel costs
3. Regional games
4. Proven recent competitiveness against GWFC teams

Unless there is something in the GWFC charter which says that there needs to be a spending or scholarship limit to membership - which I don't believe there is - I think they certainly could. Unless someone else can contradict this...

I am sure there's nothing in the way of this, unless the other schools in the Great West are against it or as LFN mentions, something in the league rules re: membership.

The closer the GW is to having an automatic bid, the better for those schools.

San Diego would be a good fit.

Any chance of SD ever adding football schollies? Even if not, I like the Great West for the Torreros- could help them claim a playoff berth one day.
