In the Big Sky's battle of Payton candidates, one got smashed in the mouth and soundly defeated and the other got smashed in the head and concussed.

Lulay finished the game with a loss, a definitely-open schedule on Thanksgiving weekend, and a cottonball hanging outta his nostril; Meyer got the W but never came back after his early fourth quarter introduction to the turf courtesy of Nick Marudas. No definitive word yet whether he'll be back for the Cal Davis game.

The strange thing is that the UC Davis game is completely meaningless for the Eagles. Win or lose, their playoff hopes ride on the MSU/UM game in Bozeman. Might be good just to sit Meyer and hope that the Bobcats can pull the upset.

That's true enough, and I hadn't even thought of it. No hope of a seed, and with a strong Gateway and Cal Poly in the west it's pretty unlikely that EWU could get a home game even if they put up 100 against Davis.

From my end, I hope Montana shows Lulay even less gentle treatment than EWU did.
