It should be illegal to have an outdoor stadium past Oct in the upper midwest.

As a Texan kid who matriculated at THE University of SoDak, I do agree. Of course, we still PRACTICED outside though....those were some cold weeks in the playoffs 2 years ago...

Aren't the Gophs moving outdoors with their new stadium? Or don't they count as upper midwest? xsmiley_wix

Game's early in the season, more likely to be 70's and nice than 30's and freezing rain.

Yes they are and so are the Twins. Should be fun to freeze while watching a baseball game only the Vikings are indoors. xlolx

At least they didn't build their dome in a hole like the Fargodome so if it rains a lot the dome would flood (remember June 2000). The 7 time national champion team plays in the Ralph also known as the Palace on the Prairie. How is that Bison hockey team.xlolx

Did they intentionally schedule it this way or just one big coincidence?

Well the Dakota Marker been the last game of the season every year so far. However, I know it's the first game xoopsx xoopsx of the season in 2010 due to the change in the play-offs. If the last weekend opens up again, then they'll switch back to last weekend.

Next year it is currently scheduled for Oct. 17th. Too bad, I wish that game could stay as last game of the season.

"The Alerus features an AstroTurf Magic Carpet playing surface that allows for rapid field conversion, with a playing surface that has no seams. Locker rooms are adorned in UND colors and are dividable into four 25-locker sections. There are also dressing rooms for coaches and officials. State-of-the art scoreboards, 15-by-30 Daktronics video replay boards and a BOSE sound system make the stadium one of the most exciting places in the nation to watch Division II football."

they should change the website.

looks nice

As much as we give it crap, its a pretty decent FCS place. Pros are TONS of light (argh, Fargodome designers, you let us down here), loud with the right crowd, warm, new, shiny, etc, etc. Big negatives are that its not real big, although fair (~14,000 I think), and its short....kicks can reach the rafters pretty easily.

UND, Has it been decided what the new nickname will be?

......kicks can reach the rafters pretty easily.

I think that is a bit of a myth. I've only ever seen or heard of one kick hit the roof in a game. It does have a lower ceiling than other domes of similar size, which is a big part of why it gets so loud in there making for a great game day atmosphere even when the place is not full.

City-owned. UND football is the main tenant. Unlike NDSU's Fargodome, it is not on campus, rather about a 1/4 mile away. Also it is only used for games and a few practices a week, the football offices are not in the Alerus, like NDSU's are in the Fargodome.

Two very good games!

At least UND saved a shut out by South Dakota!

One thing I do notice: both SDSU and USD recruit Wisconsin and Minnesota, as do both NDSU and UND.

But SDSU/UDS recruit Iowa, which, for whatever reason, NDSU/UND refuse to recruit from.

It's about NDSU/UND get into cornland. Gotta take players away from SDSU/USD as well as UNI.

And there's no doubt they would.

Of NDSU/UND/SDSU/USD/UNI, NDSU and UND easily have the best facilities. Easily.
