Here's a guess at how the brackets might shake out. Also in are UNH/Maine winner and the HC/Colgate along with the Tenn Martin/EKU winner.

Elon @ #1 JMU
McNeese St @ UNI

UNH/Maine @ Wofford
Cal Poly @ #4 Weber St

Colgate/HC @ #3 Villanova
Tenn Martin/EKU @ Montana

Richmond @ SIU
SC St @ #2 ASU

I think you also left out the OVC altogether, so they'd take UCA's spot.

Texas St has the head-to-head tiebreak over McNeese in the Southland (I'm assumming that would be the first tiebreak), so I'm assuming that they would get the bid.

I agree...I think Tex St has easier game this week too...

Elon @ #1 JMU - BUS
McNeese St @ UNI - FLY

UNH/Maine @ Wofford - FLY
Cal Poly @ #4 Weber St - FLY

Colgate/HC @ #3 Villanova - BUS
Tenn Martin/EKU @ Montana - FLY

Richmond @ SIU - FLY
SC St @ #2 ASU - BUS

why do people refuse to look at the travel? This is a MAJOR factor in pairings..

your bracket has only 3 bus trips, but it's very easy to get 5. And the NCAA will do that everytime.

richmond will not go to SIU when Wofford is in. Those 2 WILL be paired up.

the TN Martin-EKU winner WILL be paired up with SIU. That is another bus trip.

With the teams you have in, 5 matchups are locks because they will be bus trips:

Elon at JMU
SCSU at App St
Colgate-Nova
Richmond-Wofford
OVC winner at SIU

That leaves only 3 flights:

Cal Poly - Weber
UNH/Southland @ Montana
UNH/Southland @ No Iowa

the NCAA PAYS for all travel costs....they want to keep those costs down. Thus they will make as many bus trips as possible. Why is this so difficult for many people to factor in when they project brackets?

This playoff scenario is confusing.....Wouldn't it be easier to have the following:

SCSU vs Wofford (In SC)
App St vs Elon (in NC)
JMU vs Richmond (in VA)

You can't match up teams from the same conference.

I don't think there is a rule stating so, but they won't do it anyway, not in the 1st round at least.

Ahhhh..I thought it was a region/location pairing setup......ok...Thanks for clearing that up....

There is a rule that teams from the same conference cannot meet in the first round. It's in the playoff handbook.

Yeah. Did you get that memo?

Yeah. It's just we're putting all the rules in the handbook before they go out now. So if you could go ahead and try to remember that from now on, that'd be great. All right!

They may have to change that if 9 CAA teams get in

I don't think anyone is overlooking Texas State. If you win, you're in with the AQ right? Texas State has the tiebreaker with McNeese because of head-to-head, doesn't it?

No chance at an at-large though.

For this point it would be much more cost effective to just send NDSU to Montana.xthumbsupx

All true. But many brackets I see have McNeese in them over Texas St. The Bobcats have the inside track and I think the easier game.

Do you think the NCAA would even notice or will they just give the typical OVC matchup a bye?

Tried my hand at the NCAA's variant of the GPI again to *pretend* that this shows the 4 seeds/at large as things stand.

1) 1.00 James Madison
2) 2.71 Appalachian St
3) 4.29 Montana[AL]
4) 5.00 Villanova[AL] (beat Richmond)
5) 5.00 Richmond[AL]
6) 5.71 Weber St
7) 6.00 Cal Poly[AL]
8) 8.43 Wofford[AL]
9) 9.43 Northern Iowa
10) 9.71 New Hampshire[AL]
--the final 2 spots are pretty close
11) 12.43 William & Mary[AL]
12) 13.14 So. Illinois & Maine[AL] (Maine unless SIU gets the auto berth?)
14) 13.57 Elon
huge dropoff to the next eligible team

I could simplisticly say the 4 seeds should be
o JMU, ASU, Weber, Montana because Weber gets elevated for beating Montana
o JMU, ASU, Villanova, Richmond because Montana gets lowered for losing to Weber
o JMU, ASU, Villanova, Weber because Montana gets lowered & Weber gets elevated for Weber beating Montana
o JMU, ASU, Weber, Villanova because Weber gets elevated to Montana's spot and Montana is lowered to 5th or 6th
o I guess you could even make an argument for JMU, ASU, Montana, Weber.
If Poly ekes out an upset over Wisconsin, wish the committee luck with figuring out that seed scenario.
