EKU must win to get in as well. Although we have 7 wins, 7 - 4 won't get us in.

Can't repeat it often enough. I'm so glad we have a playoff system. A LOT of good teams out there this year....and I'm glad there will be 16 teams fighting for the ultimate title instead of two hand-picked ones. Thanks for this thread each week FargoBison.

I'm glad FCS has a playoff system, but this is a year where something I've frequently complained about, the fact that the playoff committee automatically looks at D-I wins as "better" than D-II wins, could really hurt McNeese. If McNeese beats Central Arkansas next week but Texas State also wins, McNeese likely has no shot at an at large berth because it can only have 6 D-I wins.

What gripes me is that McNeese has a win over a D-II, Delta State, that's better than most FCS teams. Delta State finished its regular season at 9-1, with its only loss being to McNeese, and ranked 4th in D-II. I think they're probably better than anybody in the OVC or MEAC. But McNeese gets no "credit" for beating them because they're D-II. If they'd played somebody like Alcorn State or Austin Peay...teams Delta State would almost certainly pistol whip...they wouldn't be short of the arbitrary "7 D-I" win guideline.

Not that McNeese would be likely to get in as an at large anyway if the committee used some objective system that doesn't make arbitrary distinctions. By the Massey margin of victory ratings, McNeese went into this weekend rated 20th. And the Cowboys only have themselves to blame in that, especially, they lost at home to a 2-win team (Nicholls State) and otherwise wouldn't be in this position. But it does aggravate me that Delta State automatically doesn't count regardless of how good the Statesmen are.

The 7 win guideline won't matter in Texas State's case because if the Bobcats win they get the Southland's automatic bid.

so NDSU could be coming to Missoula? (crossing fingers for a rematch of these two great programs)

Furman is done. No way I see a team getting in with 4 conference losses. Too many teams with better records that will not get passed over. Would'nt be surprised to see the SoCon get only 2 bids with the CAA of course getting 5-6

There's a couple people from Fargo who wouldn't mind that matchup at all. But we've got to take care of business on Saturday first or it's not even an issue.

Dammit FargoBison, I was really waiting on the updated list last night! Good job! xthumbsupx

Now, we REALLY need for some teams to lose next w/e. lol I still have hope of a REALLY, REALLY FAR and AWAY outside chance that PV could potentially be considered. :(

If this happens again, the committee seriously needs to start looking at how the CAA doesn't have to run the guantlet of a full conference schedule. I'm not saying that those CAA team are not good teams. Many would probably beat us this year, but to not have to play all the top teams in your conference is very different than having to play all teams in the conference.
