Sometimes, great ideas don’t come all at once. They come incrementally, with one decision leading to another, and then another.

That seems to be how the FCS Committee came to the conclusion that it would be a good idea, starting with the 2010 season, to break the quiet of New Year’s Day as far as FCS football is concerned.

In 2010, FCS may play their first-ever game after the ringing in of the New Year. Make no mistake: this is a terrific idea whose time has come.Read more ... http://www.championshipsubdivisionnews.com/index.php?blog=5&title=the-csn-way-all-ain-t-quiet-past-new-yea&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

Chuck what the hell are you thinking???? Fullerton is actually right this time, this is a really bad idea.

We already have to deal with the selection committee, and now we have to wait 3 weeks to play our championship game and you are happy???? Chuck go and get out of your closet and talk to some FCS fans, not BCS fans, when you do a story.

So you want 11 games in 11 weeks or a 10 game schedule in the regular season? This is a move that had to be made.

Very good column Chuck!

What is bad about that???

It created scheduling issues for a lot of schools(that was a big concern from the MVFC) and I think a lot of coaches wanted to keep that regular season bye week(11 games in a 11 week is quite a grind).
