As an SDSU fan, just some more insight on Ryan's life. Not only is he a two year starter for the Jackrabbits at QB, Ryan and his wife Katlin had their daughter as seniors in high school. Both went to SDSU that next year and Katlin is one of SDSU's best cross country runners. And to top it off, Ryan is Pre-Medicine and Katlin will be entering Pharmacy School this next year.

They are an extraordinary couple to say the least!!

Congrats to Ryan...he's been a great QB for SDSU, but more importantly, he's a great man.xthumbsupx

Go Jacks!!

Sounds a bit fruity xnutsx xnutsx

Ryan Berry is well deserved of this combination educational feats/ athletic feats recognition. SDSU prides itself on the STUDENT side of the Student-Athlete, and this is another step in bringing out the best.

Congrats to both Berrys, and represent FCS well.

Berry finalist for academic award

Terry Vandrovec • [email protected] • October 30, 2008

For the way that he has handled being a quarterback, a team captain, a student, a husband and a father, South Dakota State senior Ryan Berry has earned another title: Draddy Trophy finalist.

The Watertown native was named a National Scholar-Athlete and one of 15 finalists for the Draddy Trophy - often referred to as the academic Heisman - by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

Berry, a two-year starter and pre-med/biology major with a 3.89 GPA, was selected from a field of 164 semifinalists across all levels of college football based on his academic and athletic achievements, community service and leadership.

The first SDSU player to be so honored in the 50-year history of the program, Berry will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship and a trip to New York City to sit alongside other notable finalists such as Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel, Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell and Ohio State receiver Brian Robiskie for the presentation of the award on Dec. 9. . . .
