I just got into a nice debate with a Michigan fan. The argument was which team's upset of Michigan was a bigger upset, the Appy game last year, or the Toledo game this year. I only post this here on this thread since one of the teams involved is a FCS team.

I think App, too. Michigan was no. 5 going in and coached by Lloyd Carr. This year, nobody expected them to be great and they obviously had showed that they were struggling adjusting to the new system.

Homer pick here, but I agree that we took them down at #5 and Toledo kept them pinned to the mat this year. Great win for Toledo, but the App win was more groundbreaking.

App.-- only because Michigan is so terrible this year. The 07 ASU team is at least as good as and probably better then the 08 Toledo Rockets. But Michigan was expected to contend for a National Title and had a bunch of high NFL draft picks on the roster last year. This year they are bad and everyone knows it.

No homer pick. This discussion has nothing to do with APP and Toledo and everything to do with Michigan. App and Toledo are pretty similar, but Michigan was much better last year then this year--hence the bigger upset was last year over a far better Michigan team.

I'd have to say Appy. That one has gone down in the history books as one of the biggest upsets ever.
Years from now I don't think the Toledo loss will even be remembered.

App, down 22 scholarships is always a factor. Toledo is at least on par, if not closer, with Michigan

This shouldn't even be a debate. Michigan is awful this year and Toledo is an FBS school. Last year Michigan was expected to compete for the national title and lost to an FCS team. Case closed.

Toledo is not all that good they are 2-5 with a loss to Florida Internatinal. Toldeo is no better then a top 10-15 FCS team.

HAS to be ASU! First FCS team to beat such a highly ranked FBS school and if I remember correctly, ASU actually received votes in the following weeks poll. Toledo, an FBS school, beat an unranked and rebuilding Michigan team so not as much shock value as the ASU upset in 2007.

I will go with App. State on this one. Beating the No. 5 team in their house on national T.V. speaks volumes.

2008 a bad Big Ten team was beat by a bad to average MAC team.

2007 the FCS champion beat a team that went on the win the Gator Bowl vs. Florida.

It's not even close.

I think it was the Capital One Bowl.
