But I would, being a homer and all.

Furman scores a TD w/ five seconds left to go up 40-35. Players called for excessive celebration, then Lamb blows a gasket, called for another 15 yards. PAT backed up 30 yards, hits the uprights.

Pooch kick, App gets it at own 45, laterals it 12 times, scores TD, wins 41-40, Lamb curls into fetal position, students tear down both goalpost, the new field house, one goal post ends up in Duck Pond, other at Chancellor Peacock's house, new field house winds up on Howard's Knob.

High scoring affair. AE goes for at least 5 TD's 4 passing/ 1 running. Sorrells brings his A game and throws for 3 himself. Plus whatever FU gets on the ground but the Apps win 41-35.

App's secondary is playing decently and did give up 292 yards through the air against GSU, but Henton threw for under 50% and also had the 2 interceptions(both at the end of the game, yes). I believe the close win was what App needed to elevate their game to their end of the year form.

45-24 App

These numbers seem to be pretty balance when put together. App has an advantage in offense, Furman a defensive advantage. App State the better running game, Furman the better passing game.
App the better rush defense, Furman the better pass defense.

Sounds like we could be in for a high scoring affair.

I agree, he is the x-factor. However, Furman's pass defense was terrible last year, and actually very good this year. If we can dial up whatever magic we used to stop Jayson Foster every year, then I say we go with that.

Last Year, App beat a struggling 6-5 Furman team by only one touchdown...

And we won the title. Doubt it means much. I think it will be a close game with maybe some easy points tacked on at the end. Of course I will pick Appalachian to win, probably something like 41-32, but who knows. It depends on which Vermin team shows up and if App can put together 4 solid quarters. Regardless, GO APPS!

Sorry, in 2006 when App routed Furman they only scored 40. This is a much better team than that one and playing very solid on defense. App may win, but I'd be suprised if they get up around 40 points. I'd expect both teams to be in the low 30s high 20s.

The Rivalry is Renewed...

Furman and App State are set to renew a storied conference rivalry in which there have been many thrilling chapters. Furman has not won at the Rock in nearly a decade, and they look to break that curse this Saturday in what should to prove to be another thrilling page in the 2008 Edition of the Furman/App State Game. Furman is coming of a 34-20 victory where they dominated a strong Citadel team. App is coming off of a thrilling win in Statesboro, winning by a point over a powerful GSU team. Saturday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Which means the NWS has no idea what is going to happen. However, Looks to be some good Football weather. Just hope the rain holds off or is all Friday Night and Early Saturday Morning. In Boone at 8am for me. No predictions for this weekend, im still getting over the GSU game last weekend...

If this was asked earlier in the thread I apologize - don't have time to read it all:

TO App fans:
Who all is injured as starters?

I know you lost Devon Moore at RB.

*At DE aren't the LSU transfer (preseason) and Tharrington (preseason) and Tony Robertson (injury) all 3 out??

*What about Quavian Lewis at DE?

*Also, is Dominique McDuffie out at CB?
*James Hill - receiver is he out?

Any others - info/help is appreciated...???

You guys are playing very well for all those injuries -esp at one position - I have to say.

We are missing RJ Webb at recvr... Chancellor at Center.... and Mike Brown is iffy this week (bruised ribs).... Brown would be a real hurt as he is one of our best speedsters/game breakers.

Lost DE Washington and Tharrington before the season.
Lost DE Tony Roberson, CB D. McDuffie, and RB D. Moore to injury for the year.
DE Q. Lewis missed one game due to injury but has played in the last 2 games, J. Fletcher and L. Tanyi have been playing with injuries that are not bad enough to keep them from playing given the above problems at DE.
Starting nickle Leonard Love played one series at GS and was in a soft cast on crutches for the rest of the game. I don't know his status for this weeks game.
RB Robert Welton missed last weeks game with a separated shoulder may be out for the next 2 games... I haven't seen an update on his status.

This will be an interesting game. It will be nice to see if our guys can learn from the GS game and play like we all know they can. If our D shows up then i will say FU will put up about 14, but with how our D has played i am going to say:

41-31
App. FU will keep our passing to a min but AE will lead the way rushing.

Yes, but give the bad weather and there looked to be quite a few tickets left yesterday, I wouldn't have expected quite this soon. Either way I think the stands will be, unfortunely, not a full capacity.

Even my friends, who use to be good fans, are now talking about going up later and a couple not going at all. Looks like I may be driving seperately to get my Cottonwood drink on early enough for my liking.

Ahh, Cottonwood. I'm right there with you. Did I hear you say before you tailgate up at Greenwood? If you're down on campus stop by up on the thrid floor of the Rivers St. deck and share a Pumpkin Ale with us.

We actually have a Rivers St deck pass, but usually tailgate in the gravel lot at the corner of Rivers/Waters.

I have a 2 growlers of Pumkin from the brewery (only one will still exist to make the trip to Boone Sat) and also a growler of Red, Wheat, and Blue from there (Blueberry Wheat beer).

The brewery in Mooresville was packed this past Saturday, very popular now-a-days.

31-21 App. App leads early. Furman makes late first half, early second half run fueled by special team play. App secures the win with one or two big defensive plays, and a long range quick strike touchdown. Vuja de all over again! Sure hope Brown can go. I'd expect that he will be, but he's definitely a game changer. He had a number of big runs against ASU last year. Due a breakout game.

Apparently the rain system is picking up speed, rain may be gone before Noon. Should help the crowd hopefully. Should have 28k even with rain though.

Sweet. I've tailgated there before, good spot. Spent some time with Saluki fans there for the game in the 2005 playoffs. I will have a growler of Battlefield Bock from Red Oak brewery (got my buddy making a stop). Cannot wait to do it one more time against Vermin. xthumbsupx

GOFURMAN, you asked about WR James Hill, he's missed several games with injury but I haven't seen his status for the Furman game.

Thanks for the updates - I will say that you guys have been hit pretty hard by the injury bug this year. Speaks to your depth that you have continued to win. Esp at DE, tough to lose so many there - and such good ones!

Hill is listed as probable. But he seems to be very unused this season so far anyway.

LAST MINUTE QUESTION before the purple Explorer leaves the garage... can we bring our Stadium Flag?

LAST MINUTE QUESTION before the purple Explorer leaves the garage... can we bring our Stadium Flag?

The Kidd-Brewer FAQ says
Prohibited items include
• Alcoholic beverages
• Coolers or containers
• Weapons of any kind and explosives
• Food & beverages
• Pets (except for service animals)
• Umbrellas
• Artificial noisemakers

That makes it sound like the stadium flag is ok unless you put it in a cooler, blow it up, get drunk on it, or use it as a noisemaker. I guess some will depend on the "bag check brigade" as you come in.

See you at The ROCK!

From Booneweather.com..

"The rain will continue into tonight before ending by daybreak Saturday."

Rain 'should' be gone by most get out to tailgate, but it will still be wet. Hopefully it wont affect the crowd too much.
