Armanti Edwards- 225 passing 4 tds
80 rushing 2 tds

Not a bad stat line. Who can beat it?

P.S. Hats off to the ASU defense holding Andre Roberts to 6 catches for 52 yards.

Hubel of Portland St.8 1/2 yds per attempt?
A TD every 15 attempts? dunno

UMass # 2 Josh Jennings

Jr., Linebacker

Jennings lived in the Delaware backfield, constantly harrassing their QB and RBs...

Was in on 16 tackles, including three solos...

Exactly. Armanti's QB rating was 256.1 to go along with his 80 yards rushing, while Hubel's was only 154.6. This is due to his yards per attempt, and TDs per attempt being so much lower.

Chris Whitney at least deserves honorable mention
20-27 3 tds 60 rushing yards 1 TD adding to that almost all of his production was in the first half

The yards win out.

I don't think I'd say a 17-23 225 2 TD performance is better.

4 TDs. Plus you have to consider that App was blowing out The Citadel in the 2nd quarter, meaning they aren't going to pass even close to 70 times. Armanti did more with his pass attempts, hence the higher QB rating.

who was more cruicial to their teams win?

Considering how the UMass defense has played in previous weeks, and it's just MHO, but Jennings led the awakening of our defense which clearly was the lead factor in our win...

Again, JMHO...xpeacex

who was more cruicial to their teams win?

I don't think either of us could answer that without having seen both games. Obviously the PSU win was a much closer game, so Hubel's play may have had more to do with his team's result, but comparing stats, the nod has to go to Edwards.

JMU pounded Hofstra today 56-0.

Landers accounted for 225 yards....13 carries 133 yds, 1 TD, 7-13 passing for 92 yards and 3 TD's.....in 3 Quarters.

I don't think I'd say a 17-23 225 2 TD performance is better.at that rate if Armanti had thrown 73 times he would have had 708 yds! And the TDs would have been more too. xeekx

Great performance by Hubel though!!!!!!!

Of course, could he have kept the rate up at 70+ passes? Answer is of course no. Being that successful being that one dimensional is impressive.

wow. how can a coach make a player throw the ball 73 times? that seems horrible for the health of his arm. sounds like someone needs a running game

who was more cruicial to their teams win?

On the afternoon, Fourroux had a big day as he completed 24 of 38 passes for 297 yards and two tds and he rushed for 102 yard and three tds. His total offense was 399 yards.

Armanti would never get close to 70 pass attempts, because 20 of those would be scramble runs and the other team would run out of defensive linemen trying to chase him!

Just by sheer number of course his yards per attempt and attempts per TD aren't going to be as good. I mean when you throw 73 times there is that much more chance you aren't going to complete them or even throw picks. When you complete 60 percent of your passes throwing 73 times that is pretty darn good. This was also on the road against a top 15 team, for a team that wasn't supposed to be real good.

Armanti had a great day, but on the year he has only attempted 99 passes. Overall, you can't say that had he thrown more he would have had so many yards.

I guess you just have to compare one to one. In this case, however, it is like comparing apples and oranges. I mean one just sat back and threw all day, while the other was very efficient with his throwing and ran the ball like it was nobodys business.

I think both have a great right to Player of the Week, but to me personally as a former quarterback I think the PSU QB was more impressive. Again this is my 2 cents and either one has a definite right to it. And I guess since I didn't see either game I am just going by the stats as to what is more impressive.

I think something more impressive than Hubel's performance...

Danny Urrego PK Portland State

5 PAT's
4 FG's (3 from 40+ yards)

17 points.

Maybe not impressive, but I think one stat supports the other.

Rashad Jennings - 195 yards rushing, 33 yards receiving. Average 5.6 yards per carry and 11.0 yards per catch. Finished the game with three touchdowns. Took a knee at the one yard line in the fourth quarter or would've had four.

He won't win again, but he still had a heck of a game.
