In a contest that had the electric feel of a national championship game, a lot of purple-clad James Madison fans had their plug pulled out once Appalachian State started out devastatingly efficient on offense in the first half. After runningback Robert Welton - playing for injured runningback Devon Moore - punched in a 2 yard touchdown to give the Mountaineers a 21-0 lead, sold-out Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Virginia seemed pretty somber except for the cheering fans clad in black and gold.

If those purple-clad fans left this battle between the two last teams to win national championships, however, they would have missed out on one of the comebacks of the ages. It was a game that ended up living up to its billing in every possible way despite the hometown Dukes being down by three touchdowns in the first half.

The best overall weekly recap there is. All the FCS is covered nicely. Like the scores there too.
