Very talented cornerback has the task of filling the shoes left behind by all-American Jerome Touchstone at right cornerback ... saw a lot of action last season on special teams ... changed number from 25 in the offseason to allow senior Billy Riddle to reclaim the number he left behind when he went on a mission to Sudan last year.

2007: Saw action in 10 games, mainly on special teams ... notched seven tackles, all coming in blowout wins over Lenoir-Rhyne (3) and Western Carolina (4) ... also had one punt return for minus-two yards against WCU ... missed first three postseason games due to an ankle injury, but returned to play in national championship game versus Delaware.


High School: A New Orleans native, played two seasons at Brookwood H.S. in suburban Atlanta after his family was forced to flee Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina ... recorded 56 tackles, two interceptions, 14 pass break-ups and two blocked punts as a senior ... helped lead Brookwood to a 9-3 record in 2006 and an appearance in the Class 5-A state final in ‘05 in his two seasons with the Broncos ... coached by Mark Crecos.

Community College -- Prather was a two-year starting quarterback under head coach Bill Garrison at Cabrillo College in Aptos, passing for nearly 2,100 yards and 28 touchdowns. He led the Seahawks to a 7-4 record and a Capital Shrine Bowl victory over Mendocino in 2007 at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento and a 6-4 mark in 2006. Both teams earned Coast Conference championships. As a sophomore, Prather completed 103 of 199 passes for 1,448 yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions, earning All-Coast Conference honors. He also rushed for 247 yards and four scores and, as a punter, averaged 37.8 yards on 48 punts with a long of 62 yards. His freshman statistics include 54 of 107 passes for 698 yards and 10 touchdowns with only two interceptions and he also rushed for two scores.

High School -- A 2006 graduate of San Lorenzo Valley High School, the same school which produced Buck Buchanan Award winner Jordan Beck. As a senior under head coach Doug Morris in 2005, Prather earned first-team All-Santa Cruz County honors as chosen by the Santa Cruz Sentinel and was co-most valuable player of the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League. He completed 82 of 152 passes for 1,343 yards and 17 touchdowns with six interceptions and also rushed for 234 yards and nine scores, leading the Cougars to a 9-2 overall mark, 6-0 SCCAL record for first place and a berth in the CIF-Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs. Prather also was selected to play in the Lions Bowl All-Star Game and completed 13 of 21 passes for 359 yards and four touchdowns, including a 70-yard bomb for the winning score with 1:09 left in Santa Cruz County’s 28-21 win over San Mateo County. In Prather’s junior season (2004), he completed 73 of 163 passes for 1,251 yards and 15 touchdowns with six interceptions, earning All-SCCAL honorable mention. He also rushed for three scores and a pair of two-point conversions as the Cougars finished 5-6 overall and second in the SCCAL with a 4-2 mark.
